The sweets you had as a kid On one of the piers, the one near the maritime museum, inside what seemed to be a ferry terminal building, there's a small shop that specialises in sweets you haven't seen for ages. Sweet tobacco, raspberry ruffles, those sweets shaped like a monkey nut with crushed peanut inside, teacakes, parma violets, Golden Nuggets (the little pieces of bubble-gum in a sack-cloth bag)... Not cheap at 95p for 100g (close to the old 'quarter') but a nice treat.

Enjoy yourself there is plenty to do Southampton is the Major City in Hampshire, South East England and at its centre oon the South Coast. There are extremely good transport links to the other surrounding Cities via rail / road. It is close to Southampton Airport and Southampton Docks receieves all major shipping lines and local Ferrys etc. Portsmouth is 20 miles East and has a Continental Ferry Port and rail / road links to Southampton. There are major shopping venues and exceptional hotels, clubs, restaurants and pubs. There is a large student population attending at its Universities.
