Spend a few pounds more if you seek true comfort
from MIAChelsThe hotel is a rather large hotel that reminded me of a large Holiday Inn or Days Inn. Check-in was very smooth with no problems. The room itself, however, was disappointing. We arrived at the hotel around 3:30 in the afternoon imagining that we would relax in the room before our flight the next morning at 8:00 a.m. (We were finishing a 10-day trip to Italy.) The room, however, was small and dingy. While it was clean, the decor is very 70's, the room had an old feeling to it, and the accommodations were very tight. The bathroom was very small and had the old feeling to it as well.
Room service was extremely limited and quite pricey for selections that were not that appealing. However, even if the room service had offered tastier choices, we would still have fled the hotel room because it was just too depressing to sit in there for an entire evening. Luckily, there is a large shopping mall and cinema that was not too far away (7 pound cab fare to Queensmere), and we were able to escape.
As for location and proximity to Heathrow, this hotel is NOT close to Heathrow. Although it is serviced by an airport bus, it is not the best choice for those looking for convenient airport lodging. First, from the airport, the Hotel Hoppa bus took quite some time to come to the airport stop (I assume due to the time it takes to make the circuit to the property and back.) We waited at least 1/2 hour in freezing weather for the shuttle to arrive at the pick-up stop. On return to the airport the next morning, the shuttle was right on time for departure; however, with the morning traffic, it took us almost 45 minutes to get to the terminal from the hotel! (We have often stayed at the Paddington Hilton upstairs from the Heathrow Express station in London. It was much faster to get to Heathrow from London on the Heathrow Express than it was to get to the airport from this Marriott. This was just the reality of the traffic situation.)
With that said, if you are on a budget, the Marriott Windsor may work for you. It was not horrible, it just was not particularly pleasant. On a positive note, the staff of hotel were nice, friendly, and effecient. Also, the cost of this hotel was about 40% less than the sister property closer to the Airport. However, this hotel does prove the adage that you get what you pay for; the choice is up to you.
A great hotel, but ...........

Fine for a pre-flight stay
from woolpitchEasy to find (just off the M4), simple check-in, good sized room. Got the Hoppa service (H5 bus) to Heathrow Terminal 3, no problems at all.
Car easy to collect on return.
Would consider for a pre-flight stay again.
We enjoyed it!
from SwirlyWhirlyWe paid £72 for a family room and when we got there, we were told our room number and set off to find it. We found out that we'd been put into the executive section of the hotel and our room was massive!!!!
There was a single camp bed put up for our daughter which was fine as she's only 4, but that may be a problem if your 'little one' is 12! Our bed tho was massive, we're used to sleeping in a king sized bed, but this was about half as big again!!!! The bathroom was excellent all marble and shiny with lots of nice products and fluffy white bath robes.
As our room over looked the main reception area there was some traffic noise during the night, but not much as it was mainly taxis dropping off & picking up, so it all stopped fairly early. Once we were tucked up in bed there was no noise at all from the corridors around us or from our 'nextdoor neighbour', so we all managed a really good nights sleep.
The hotel was packed and we had to book a slot in the pool which may be a problem for some people, but I quite liked as it meant the pool wasn't absolutely rammed with people. There was plenty of room for daughter to splash around and the pool set out was quite good for kids as it's quite shallow for a while, plus there was plenty of chairs around the edges for non-swimming parents. (The gym looked really good as well, but as I'd forgotten my trainers I couldn't try it out!)
Even though the hotel was full we didn't have to wait long at all to be served in the restaurant and there was a singer/guitar player there providing some background music which was nice. The food was good, not great, but better than you expect from somewhere like that. The breakfast in the morning was fantastic! Everything you could want, fry-up, cereals, toast, fruit and more! There was plenty to choose from and nothing had run out. You could help your self to how much you liked and you could go back as many times as you wished. In fact I'm still staggered by the amount my partner managed to tuck away that morning!
I would recommened this hotel to anyone wanting a good place to relax and unwind before heading off to their meeting or Legoland etc!
Must have picked a bad time

Take the Hotel Hoppa Bus I cannot stress enough the value and ease of the Hotel Hoppa bus. I wish we had known about it in advance of the trip, because we had to track it down at Heathrow. Basically you can get it from the bus area of terminals 1, 2 or 3 (if you fly into terminal 4 you will need to take the LHR Express to Terminal 3, which is a free ride). Then you just buy your ticket from the driver and you're on the way. about 10% of the cost of a taxi!!! Note: to get the Marriott Slough, you will need to take bus H5!
Spend the day in Windsor Take a taxi to Windsor. Its worth taking the tour of the castle. There are plenty of fun shops, resturants, cafes, etc. Its a safe and fun area - be prepared for lots of walking! Great for children! Visit Eaton college, walk along the Thames, rent a bike....lots to do!
Heathrow Hoppa The Heathrow Hoppa service was fantastic - stops right outside the door of the hotel!
