Weather atrocious - Hotel superb! the Royal York is a niche hotel, wonderfully designed for travellers of a certain age. It combines the highest standards of a four-star hotel with the friendly 'home' feeling that being in the same family for 80 years has given it. Food is superb and service excellent. Staff provide every comfort that mature travellers hanker after.(eg fresh milk in a jug to substitute for horrid little long-life mini cartons). Afternoon tea is served from 3 to 4:30pm. Nothing is too much trouble for the friendly and courteous staff. It was just what this couple needed and I came away feeling a few inches taller and considerably refreshed. PS - I didn't see a single child in the Hotel.
