Top Local Tips for Scarborough
seafront shops, attractions and typical English seaside fun Even if the weather is not accommodating, you can always find something to do on the sea front in Scarborough, from the novelty shops, arcades, theater, cliff front lift, cafes, seafood stalls and fun places to the donkey rides on the beach. It is always fun, sunny or rain in Scarborough and if you like shopping there are always the Brunswick Mall and surrounding shops. The Grand hotel does a three course lunch at a very reasonable price, we found this a bit late in our stay otherwise it would have been a regular lunchtime visit for us. Fish and chips are plentiful all over Scarborough but we found a few nice eat in places on South Bay beach front. Parking is a bit of a pain having to pay at each car park which can mount up to a few pounds for just a short stay here and there. We found a good car park with long stay quite central near the train station and another on South Bay near the Life Boat bay, which is adjacent to where all the fishing boats store their fish.

My oldest grandson was so taken with his breakfast he left a token of his appreciation on the last day, which is mot easy approval for a 15 year old with a mother who is an excellent cook herself. He marveled that anyone could cook an English breakfast with the same stand as his mother who took particular care serve an enjoyable grease free meal. We all looked forward to our breakfast each morning.
The parking was outside the hotel using a guest permit, which the owner gave us on arrival. We did not have much problem finding a parking space, although on occasion it might not have been right in front of the hotel it was close.
The location of the hotel is quite near to most main attractions, which is an easy walking. Although for the South Bay, we opted to drive since we only had a short stay in Scarborough and wanted to show the boys as much as possible during our stay.
We would recommend The Dolphin Hotel as a pleasant comfortable and reasonable place to stay whilst on holiday.
We would have liked to stay longer but our plans where to spend the bulk of our holiday in the Lake District visiting family and friends, whom my grandsons had never seen having been born in Australia. We would certainly stay at this hotel again in the future when we revisit Scarborough.
