Pleasent welcome for weary travellers

My daughter, three grandsons and I stayed at the Dolphin hotel for two nights, arriving quite late at night. Having had a four-hour wait in London at the car hire office where we had booked a car five months previously and it or an alternative was not available for us. I rang the Dolphin hotel owner to let him know our planned tea time arrival was not going to be possible and that I had no idea what time we would get there. We arrived around 10.40pm, very tired and weary travelers indeed, we where greeted with a friendly welcome by the owner who was most helpful taking our cases to our room and making sure we where comfortable. The family room was clean, roomy, tastefully decorated and had a nice size well equipped bathroom, consisted of a king size bed, bunks and a fold out which my grandson found comfortable. We fell asleep instantly and woke refreshed in the morning ready for our breakfast, which was a delicious full cook English breakfast, a variety of cereals, toast, jams, juice, tea and coffee. The table service was spot on and the breakfast was cooked expertly all of which we where surprised to find was done by the owner himself. He obviously was well organized and proficient to tackle both jobs and produce such a culinary delight every time. My oldest grandson was so taken with his breakfast he left a token of his appreciation on the last day, which is mot easy approval for a 15 year old with a mother who is an excellent cook herself. He marveled that anyone could cook an English breakfast with the same stand as his mother who took particular care serve an enjoyable grease free meal. We all looked forward to our breakfast each morning. The parking was outside the hotel using a guest permit, which the owner gave us on arrival. We did not have much problem finding a parking space, although on occasion it might not have been right in front of the hotel it was close. The location of the hotel is quite near to most main attractions, which is an easy walking. Although for the South Bay, we opted to drive since we only had a short stay in Scarborough and wanted to show the boys as much as possible during our stay. We would recommend The Dolphin Hotel as a pleasant comfortable and reasonable place to stay whilst on holiday. We would have liked to stay longer but our plans where to spend the bulk of our holiday in the Lake District visiting family and friends, whom my grandsons had never seen having been born in Australia. We would certainly stay at this hotel again in the future when we revisit Scarborough.
