We really enjoyed our short break here and will definitely be recommending Katherine and Mal's Hotel. An extremely warm welcome, fantastic room and superb breakfasts - what more could we ask for! Eagerly saving up now for a rapid return.

We booked for 3 nights at the Raincliffe as we wanted somewhere within walking distance to the town centre and we had also read the good reviews and we were not disappointed! The hotel is situated conveniently close to the shopping centre and beach but is far enough away to escape any "town centre rowdiness". The rooms are spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated and the breakfasts are ample and well cooked to order and to whatever your requirements might be. Katherine is an excellent host and knows exactly what little extras her guests will appreciate and provides them in every way. We will certainly be returning to the Raincliffe on any future trips to Scarborough.

Top hotel, top food, top people

We stumbled upon the Raincliffe entirely by accident on an internet site, and what a find! We booked to stay in June and it was such a treat, we booked to stay again in August before we'd even left the building. Everything is to the very highest standard, and nothing is too much trouble. The breakfasts are huge and very tasty, the rooms all newly decorated to a very high standard with all the mod cons you would expect from a quality hotel, and the owners are both genuine people who enjoy providing a brilliant service (and it shows). You do feel as though you have been invited in to their home, and they treat it as such - Mal is very keen to discourage anti social and rowdy guests, which is a definite advantage for those of us looking for a quiet break in an area close enough to the town and sea front to be convenient, but with the peace of mind that you are staying somewhere that is safe, quiet, and without the hassle of drunk holiday makers to contend with!

Just had a two night stay at the Raincliffe whilst visiting friends in Scarborough and found all the reviews written by others to be perfectly true. We stayed in room 14, which is the family room and were very comfortable. Very clean, good breakfast and very friendly and welcoming. Parked car up for £2.00 and left it there all weekend as we were able to walk to all the attractions which were nearby. Looking forward to our next visit.

My Husband and I stayed at the Raincliffe Hotel for the first time in July this year. We have been visitors to Scarborough many times, we only wish we had found the Raincliffe sooner!! Mal and Katherine are fantastic hosts, who run the most clean and comfortable Hotel. Food was first class and plentiful!! beds so comfy. We will certainly visit again.

Much more than a B&B!!!

It may be classed as a B&B, but the friendliness, quality, and pleasant rooms leave nothing to be desired. We were even offered a sandwich lunch (they don't do lunches!) to save us going to find some in the town prior to attending a wedding. For quality, this competitively priced hotel is a must! I'd certainly would stay there again.

Top Local Tips for Scarborough

stephen joseph theatre Visit the theatre. Anything will be worth seeing. The theatre in the round is a rare experience and one you should not miss.

Sealife centre Sealife Centre is a hidden gem., good live music on in the local pubs couple of evenings a week

Thry the Blue Lounge We found it hard to get a reasonably priiced meal in the early evening away from the front. The blue lounge looked more like a trendy disco or nightclub, but in the early evening they did excellent food, the music was muted and relaxing, and they had old silent movies on the flatscreen TVs. Staff were excellent too.
