A friend and I have just returned from a 4day break on a first visit to Scarborough. As an experienced 'shortbreak' UK traveller, I feel qualified in saying, the Raincliffe exceeded fullstop! The hotel is in a quiet area of town, in a leafy, picturesque avenue a short walk from the sea. The hotel interior is bright and tastefully furnished. Our bedroom was lovely, both clean and comfortable with a spotless ensuite. We were served a fantastic breakfast in the elegant and spacious dining room and we felt we could not fault anything. If I return to Scarborough, I will definitely try for the Raincliffe first and hope there is availability!

An excellent weekend was had by our Party of 4, this was made more enjoyable by Katherine who looked after us and Mal who entertained us with his variety of jokes and stories. The rooms are furnished to a high standard and the cleanliness is second to none. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a relaxed break away in a great location. I will be returning in October to taste the superb home cooking especially the Steak Pie.

We have just returned from a weekend at the Raincliffe Hotel in Scarborough and were made so welcome from the moment we arrived until the time we left. We enjoyed are stay so much that we plan to go back in October. The hospitality of Mal and Kathryn is second to none! They made you feel right at home and nothing was too much trouble for them. The rooms are exceptional and very clean. And the breakfasts well! You won't need to eat anything after breakfast until tea time. But make sure you don't leave anything!! Its location is perfect, it's in a very quiet residential area that is a short walk to both the town centre and sea front. We would recommend that anyone looking for accommodation for Scarborough or the surrounding area take a close look at the Raincliffe Hotel, you would not be disappointed a definite 10 out of 10.

everything about this hotel is lovely, from the very warm welcome from Katherine & Mal, to the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms, plenty of tea, coffee, milk, hot chocolate etc, lovely toiletries in the shower room. Plus the fantastic breakfast, what more can you ask for, their fours stars are well deserved, and they should be upgraded to five stars.

At £30pppn (including a breakfast) I was hoping for a lot as it was going to stretch my student budget. I was overwhelmed at how good everything was. The owners were brilliant, the breakfast was a treat and the rooms were wonderful. The location is also ideal, 5 minutes in either direction to the town or the front. I wish I could write exactly how good it was, by 10/10 says it all.

Top Local Tips for Scarborough

stephen joseph theatre Visit the theatre. Anything will be worth seeing. The theatre in the round is a rare experience and one you should not miss.

Sealife centre Sealife Centre is a hidden gem., good live music on in the local pubs couple of evenings a week

Thry the Blue Lounge We found it hard to get a reasonably priiced meal in the early evening away from the front. The blue lounge looked more like a trendy disco or nightclub, but in the early evening they did excellent food, the music was muted and relaxing, and they had old silent movies on the flatscreen TVs. Staff were excellent too.
