After looking through a lot of B+Bs in Scarborough My partener and I decided on the Lyness as it looked cosy and comfortable, but unfortunatly it was not to be! When we arrived, the chap on charge said as we were the only guests staying that week we could have the best room, this sounded great until he took us to the top floor of the hotel, to a tiny room with wall paper falling off the walls, it smelt like something had died in there and to top it all off it was freezing, this is the point were we so tired we just wanted to sleep but we really should have said something then. Later on in the evening I went to talk to the manager about the room but he was no where to be seen, so after a very bad nights sleep I then spoke to him in the morning when I said we would like to move to another room he said that the cleaner was not in so we couldn't I suggested that he do it but he had to go to work! thinking back I wish I had offered to do it myself, he said we could move in the middle of the week. 3 days into our break there was a knock at our hotel room door this was 7.30am, it turned out to be a surveyor our geuss is the manager wanted to put us in the worst room so the surveyor couldn't see how bad it was! My advice would be to go next door.
