This was a return visit for me. The hotel is great for me as a singleton being in the town centre near to the theatre, museum & art gallery, shops and bars but also a short walk away from the beach and Spa with some great walks. The main rooms overlook the Crescent Gardens which is nice and peacful. The rooms are clean and comfortable; the breakfasts are hearty (I can't manage the 'full English'); Kate and Adrian who run the hotel are friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. Highly recommended.

Not the best!

Our bedroom had at some time been divided off and the wall between us & the next room was paper thin - we could hear everything, even down to them getting into their squeaky bed! (ours creaked too). Got little sleep. Not what I would consider to be a 3* hotel, more a good guest house.

We booked this hotel after reading the reviews, well i can see now how good it is, the couple who own it were very welcoming and friendly towards us,especially the children, the family room on the first floor was clean, and very cosy, the kids loved it, the Full English Breakfast was unbeatable, you could also choose from the buffet table : fruit, yoghurts, cereal etc. They have certainly got it just right, we used to finish our evening off with a drink from the bar and sit outside overlooking the beautiful view of the Park. We will definately be back

Just spent another weekend at the Chessington. This is our tenth stay and as always we have had a lovely time. Nothing is too much trouble for Adrian and Kate ,they are excellent hosts, breakfast is superb, sea view from our room and as ever everything is clean and fresh,. Looking forward already to our next stay.

nightmare stay

Sat in our family room in the chessington as I write this, struggling to get the kids to sleep as our room is right on a main road with very little soundproofing from the traffic and pub clientele below. We asked to be moved to a quieter room upon arrival but were told the hotel was full, even though vacancies sign is lit outside.our greeting upon arrival was frosty to say the least. Reviews persuaded is to book this hotel, but we will definitely NOT be returning.

Room of a poor standard and in need of sprucing up, including the bathroom. Clean but dated and tatty. Expected a nice view due to location of hotel but looked out upon a busy main road or the rear of another building. Felt as though we had been squeezed into the smallest space required for a family of four. Room had a TV but this was tiny and reception was poor, so no real use. All beds noisy and squeaky, quilt on bed had seen better days and could have done with replacing. Looking forward to a lovely full English, but we were very dissapointed. The adverts for the hotel promise so much, but so little was delivered. Glad to get home!

Rooms are spotless. You receive a nice welcome and the parking is free. The hotel is beautiful to look at and it’s cheap. We will be going again with a group of couples and this will be out third trip back to them. I always recommend it to friends. The breakfast is excellent. There is every food you can mention for breakfast and it’s all set out lovely.
