Stayed at the George over Christmas. Their promotional website promised all sorts of gourmet treats (dishes and wine introduced by the chef, for example) that just didn't materialise. Christmas lunch was institutional. Paella on Boxing Day's Spanish menu was inedible (I have a letter from the manager explaining that paella is difficult to cook)! Staff are helpful and breakfast was good, but all in all, especially for the price, very disappointing and the management frankly don't seem to care.

Smart web site and a lot clearly spent on refurbishment, but we (and our fellow visitors and reviewers on other web sites) were very disappointed. Rooms pleasant enough, but food poor and inconsistent and service chaotic at best. Parking is a nightmare (five minutes away, unmonitored and inaccessible on market days). If it wasn't expensive some of these 'features' might be forgiven, but it's not cheap and is therefor very poor value.
