Historical Traveller Reviews of The Richmond Hill Hotel

Wow!! What a difference this hotel is!

from AlThomas
I stayed here for 3 nights on business and thought I was so impressed by the breath of fresh air this hotel is that I had to write a review.

I stay in hotels every other week, and this one deserve the four star status it has.

I was firstly very impressed byt the professionalism of th staff and how helful and kind they are.

The hotel has obviously had some recent refurbishment, as the room which was a standard room looked new and very modern, with plasma TV. The bed were very comfortable.

The restaurant looks also new, and the breakfast was very good. I had dinner one night, and thought the food was delicious. And my the clients I brought in were also very impressed.

I can not praise the standard and the service of the hotel enough,
I'm amazed I have never heard about this hotel before. But now I will definitely use it anytime I have to stay for business in the area and recomend it to my business partners.

Loved it!!!!

had a great stay

from bobby_cooper
I have stay at the Richmond Hill Hotel at the end of February for a an anniversary with my girlfriend we stayed for 3 nights and had the best weekend together. It was made by the location of the hotel and the excellent service we received from all the hotel staff. We never had to ask for anything twice, when we went down for breakfast we were sitted straight away and tea, toast was brought right away. when we went down for dinner on the Sunday we recevied the same high standard of service. and the food was excellent we recommend the steak, seabass and the puddings were out of the world not to be missed.
Also the rooms were cleaned to a equally high standard but with the maids and housekeeping staff never waking us up in the mornings or disturbing us duing are stay.
Over all we had a fantastic weekend and we would highly recommed the Hotel for a relaxing break from a busy working life we all have.

Do not listen to the bad review written about this hotel because it is not true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights on the 23rd of Feb for my birthday with my boyfriend and a few friends and we all agreed that it was the best weekend we have ever had, the staff were so nice and polite and made sure our stay was wonderful we didnt have to ask for anything twice they were very quick and efficant, the rooms were lovely and was cleaned to a very high standard every day.

The food in the resturant is to die for i recommend the Tapas, Shrimp cocktail and the steak the staff were fast and was always smiling.

The hotel is facing the terrace which has a lovely few and your only 20 mins from Central London what more can you want.

I truely recommend this hotel for anyone who wants a relaxing weekend or couples who wants to have a good time as there are lovely resturants and bars just 10 mins walk from the hotel.

This hotel deserves to be a 4 star and i will definatly be coming again

A Lovely Weekend

from LondonMarie
We stayed at the Richmond Hill at the end of Februauy 2007 and my over all review of this hotel is WONDERFULL. The staff on reception were very helpful and polite.
Our room was lovely, bright with a spacious clean bathroom and toiletries, towels etc were replaced daily.
The resturant was both asthetically pleasing and welcoming. Staff were very attentive and polite and the food was out of this world. Either a bar snack or three course meal, I could not fault it in any way, (the lamb shank is a must, followed by marshmellow ice-cream)
The rest of the weekend was spent walking around the fabulous Richmond park, which is a stones throw away from the hotel and walking into Richmond town centre along the river admiring the beautiful views.
A truly wonderful weekend getaway location. Thank you Richmond Hill.

Fine Dining

from Gillian-Gerrards-X
Was booked via my company and expected a bog standard conference venue, but the Richmond Hill is far more than that. Food Quality and Service were amazing (Thank you Paolo and Harpreet). The private dining room booked for one of the nights was beautiful (Queens Room) and was newly decorated. The conference facilities were also very modern and had all the latest IT facilities available.

Would use the Hotel for a leisure visit too!!!

Do not bother, stay at the Richmond Gate instead

from Corkytheho
Just do not bother. I stayed here for my brother's wedding in Feb 2007 for two nights. I arranged all the Wedding guests rooms/meals beforehand and had everything organised within an inch of my life.
When we got there the Events Co-Ordinator had not passed on any information to any member of staff, not one member of staff was pleasant or helpful during my stay & the hotel stank of cabbage.
We stayed in room 62 - the extractor fan in the bathroom was broken, there was no remote control for the TV, the bin in the bathroom was also broken and the shelves were dusty.

A few members of the wedding party requested to be moved due to noisy rooms & a lot of rrom weren't ready when we went to check in.
The food was terrible, really over priced and we were still hungry after a 3 course dinner. We did go and have a look in the Richmond Gate Hotel wgich looked a lot nicer, so stay there if you really must.

very nice and good service

from lillybit2
When we arrived at the hotel we were impressed by the lobby classy & modern, at check in we were greeted by a smiley receptionist (fiona?) who was very helpful, quick and informative, however I may not have been had I have her, there was a sour faced girl floating about (Joanna?) tall blonde girl who was being very bossy and rude to other staff members at the desk, I dont know if she was a manager but I certanly would hope not with that attitude, very sure of herself and gobby very unprofessional.
Anyway that aside I found all other staff to be helpful and polite.
Our room was lovely it was modern, very clean and a lovely big telly.
We ate in their resturant which has been recently refurbished it looked so swanky we loved it, you must try the tapas (awsome), great food great wine and again great service.
The hotel has a lovely leisure club which we really enjoyed.
Over all we had such a great stay. The area is lovely also, close to everything you could need. We will be back.

Moving down the Road ..

from CynicFS
Very courteous staff and more than adequate lodging. London doesn't have many budget hotels and this is definitely one of the better ones. I initially was staying down the road at another hotel but being extremely disappointed with were I was, I moved to Richmond Hill which was more than slightly pleasant to stay at. Strongly recommended for the budget traveller.

Fine little inn

from RWC99
Stayed at the Richmond Inn for 1 week during corporate training. The room was small by American standards but comfortable. Has all the business amenities - desk, desk light, wireless broadband (for pay). Room has an air conditioning unit that did a fine job in reducing the humidity and keeping the room chilly at night (but comfortable under the duvet). Water pressure in shower was impressive, and soap and shampoo were replenished daily. They are stingy on the towers (only 1 bath towel was given each day). Breakfasts and lunches are buffet style and food was fine.
Location is convenient - approximately 25 minute walk (downhill) to Richmond station and Richmond city center. Walking back to hotel from Richmond city center is uphill, but there are plenty of taxis to take you up the hill for about GBP 5.00.

Top Local Tips for Richmond
