My wife and I booked in for 1 night on Valentine 08 expecting an enjoyable experience after reviews read. This was not so. The lower floor was nicely decorated but the bedroom was a total disappointnent, and in need of refurbishment. We had booked the Valentine meal and this was not up to expectations being very bland and can I say expensive . The wine selection added to the meal @ £15 each was also a let down for my wife and I was not even offered an alternative drink with the meal.
On returning to our room for the evening, it was not possible to sleep until after midnight because of the amount of noise from the kitchen and the adjoining staff room and had to turn up the volume on the TV to drown out the noise. We would not recommend to friends or collegues
We both felt it was a Valentine day ripoff.

What to do? Sleepy town with not a lot to do in the main town centre

Richmond in the rain Richmond is beautiful but rain does impede the views a little. My advice would be to go in the spring or autumn when you're more likely to get good weather, I wasn't amused by getting wet every time I stepped outside!

Geogian Theatre Royal If you ever get a chance to see a performance go ! - its a fantastic experience.
