We stayed at the Buck Hotel for three nights to walk the splendid Swaledale.
When we checked in we were warmly received and immediately felt comfortable. The room was excellent with a good view over the village square and valley.
They have excellent real ales [one of my passions] and both my wife and I enjoyed every meal over the three days. As a vegetarian, Jean finds it difficulty to get a decent choice, but the Buck came up trumps. The landlord and landlady have only just taken over the place in March, but talking to the locals they have made a great start and are already very popular. She does the kitchen and he does the beers.
The walks are very good with easy to hard, depending on how you feel and we took advantage of getting a good packed lunch from the hotel.

ash tray full of cigarette ends to greet you outside side door,and also all over footpath,awful.tea in bedroom tasteless could be water,bedroom 3 very noisy,no owner anywhere about just staff.evening meal fine,breakfast cold,why ?only saw 2 staff and both ok,will not return..
