Although staff were very friendly, accomadation was not up to the standard of 3 stars. The beds were very hard, we were awoken on are last day, to water dripping from the ceiling onto are pillows. Parking was an issue. The car park was very small and the spaces were very tight. The rooms were very basic. the television was a problem,we were told since they had stwitched to digital they were unable to pick up some channels. We had hot water in our room on the first night, but the room we moved into for the second night had no hot water.on the plus side it was a convinient location for us. Breakfast was not that special where was the beans and mushroom on the fried breakfast.
my son had a family room which should of slept 2 adults and 2 children, yet there was only 1 double and 1` single bed you could not you would of been unable to fit another single in the room it was to small. they only slept for an hour which spoilt the next day.

We were originally booked into The Invicta Hotel for 7 nights via online booking, but cut this stay short and moved to another hotel. The reasons are as follows: The room was in a generally shabby state, with stained carpets, stains on the headboards, flaking paint, and a window that wouldn't stay shut which was a particular problem as we were experiencing wet & windy weather. We reported the window problem within 24 hours of our arrival but heard nothing more about it. The bathroom, although quite clean, was lacking in fixtures such as NO towel rail, NO toilet-roll holder, No mirror shelf, No shaving light (Bulb not working). The bedroom came with the usual hairdryer, kettle, complimentary tea/coffee, etc. One of the power sockets was badly damaged and could be quite dangerous in my opinion. The beds were hard and uncomfortable, the bedding was badly stained including the blankets and outer cover, although the sheets appeared clean. Storage was badly lacking with 1 large wardrobe with 1 rail and no shelves, and 2 small drawers. The final straw came when I lifted the mattress protector and found a very badly stained mattress and what looked like an old piece of blood-stained tissue which I'd been unknowingly sleeping on for several nights. The breakfasts were more than sufficient although the dining room had inadequate seating/tables for a hotel of this size. (At least 36 rooms but only 8 tables). This meant some guests had to wait in the lounge before they could be seated for breakfast. The downstairs 'restaraunt' was closed. We found the breakfast staff to be polite and helpful but they seemed to be the only staff on duty in the mornings. This was only a problem when we decided to book-out early due to our unhappiness with the room, and despite the best efforts of the staff to summon the proprietor to discuss our issues, we were never able to meet with them. They attempted to charge us for an extra night as we hadn't given 24 hours notice of cancellation. The cleaner and the waitress/receptionist had to negotiate via the telephone to get this charge waived. I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone and feel this negative review is necessary to spare other potential guests a similar experience. AVOID!
