Top Local Tips for Pickering

North York Moor Railways The NYMR is a must-do in the area. Also it leads conveniently to some great hikes through the moors. In Levisham on the way, the pub Horseshoe-inn can e recommended as it provides one of the rare occasions of good food in an English pub.

Book early Book well in advance to most restaurants in pickering - although there is an abundance of choice, they are all at the top of their game - especially the white swan on the market place - the best place in yorkshire to eat (except maybe the star at harome - the only difference between the two is that the star has a michelin star and maybe finds it hard to live up to expectations - white swan AA rosettes as far back as I can remember! - and bloody good at it too!)

North Yorks Moors Railway Preserved steam and heritage engine railway running regular services 7 days a week. These guys have got it just right. Friendly local staff,always pleased to provide information and ideas. Northern terminus at Grosmont connects with Northern rail and with some though services to Whitby. Check out the popular 5 course dining experience on Pullman carriages, jazz bands, music, and murder mystery options.
