Since my last review, the motel has closed down. The new owner apparently disappeared and the staff had to cope on their own until it became impossible. A great shame since Mr Booth did a superb job with the motel before he retired, he must be gutted. If the motel re-opens I will post another review.

Good Facilities, Let down by the food.

I have read the first review (3 out of 10) and feel that although most points are correct, it is too harsh. I have been going to the Motel with my family for Summer and Winter breaks since 1995 and plan to go again later this year. The outdoor and indoor pools are superb and there is a play area for children. The Motel rooms are comfortable with a good bathroom and tea/coffee making facilities, the TV's are OK (although they no longer have Sky Sports in the rooms). The food unfortunately did let the Motel down last time we went, with bar-snacks only for evening meal and a disapointing breakfast in the restaurant. Overall, a great place to stay, but they need to stop standards slipping meal-wise.

Going Downhill since takeover

After many good holidays here over the years, it pains me to write a bad review. But since the motel was sold last year and turned into the 'Torbay Berkeley Hotel' I probably won't be going back. The only evening meals when I went (December) were now only served in the bar and were very poor even by bar-food standards. Also, a dog running around the tables barking did little to endear me to the new system - BRING BACK EVENING MEALS IN THE RESTAURANT! Breakfast was worse, with undercooked bacon, egg and sausage which tasted a little off. The pools are great however (even though the indoor could be a little warmer in the winter) and the rooms are comfortable and clean. Maybe I am being harsh since it is only a 2-star hotel, but if I had wrote this review two years ago, it would have been a glowing one - not anymore.
