we stayed at the Esplanade with my two widowed sisters, the rooms were clean and we had a lovely view of the Sea. Waiter could have been quicker but we could not fault the food. Entertainment was excellent even for young 60 year olds We will book to return next year.

my husband and I stayed at this hotel for 5 days, along with my two older sisters. We were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the room and the helpful staff. The rooms were small but the sea view and the position of the hotel coupled with great entertainment meant we only stayed in them for the minimum time. Food was good but the waiter was a bit slow, he was a trainee and had been left on his own. By popular demand from my sisters we will be probably returning next year.

Great location grotty decoration

The hotel is in a great position right on the seafront near the harbour and only 5 minutes walk to bus station and shops. The hotel also has free parking for guests on collection of a voucher which must be displayed on the dashboard. The hotel itself was shabby and in urgent need of decoration. The bathroom was minute with no natural light and the smallest had basin we have ever seen in our lives. The lift was archaic. The food was very acceptable but portions were mean. waiter service which was quick and efficient. However do not try and order a drink with your meal. If you are lucky enough to get an order taken you might be lucky enough to receive them by the time you start your dessert. Entertainment most evening Bingo, quiz then cabaret.Reception staff were first rate. considering what we paid overall it was a good value if you can tolerate the awful state of the hotel.

The hotel was clean and cheerful. We were on an all inclusive for four days for £120 which included coach journey and three free day trips which we did not go on.Food good and with free drinks hotel could not be faulted exept for one arrogant barman who spoilt what was our third stay at this hotel.

God what a hole, a rabbit warren, filthy showers, rooms and building unkempt would be knocked down. As for meals, you wont get fat here, strict portion control and dont touch the porriage or scram egg, wall paper paste and egg custard tastes better, take our advice and go elsewhere as this place is a recipe for disaster!

We booked through Shearings a 3 night night half board holiday at what would thought was a cheap rate. The rooms were pretty awful and urgent needed of updating. This meant we spent the minimum of time in our small room. The food was better than we expected, the staff were excellent and the location was central. The old saying " You only get what you pay for"is very true when it comes to the Esplanade Hotel. Overall we though it was good value for what we paid. If you are the kind of person that uses their room for more than a base then this hotel is probably not suitable for you. The entertainment was slightly amateurish but amusing. What you would expect in a pub.

Never Again

This is the worst hotel we have stayed in, needs extensive refurbishment, rooms are a single with a double bed in it. Bathroom so small you could not swing a cat in it. The food was adequate, but at times tasteless, we ended up eating out in the evening, which negates the reason for going all inclusive. The staff did their best and were helpful. the evening entertainment was quite good. mainly because of the attraction of free drinks between 1800 and 2300. This being a Shearings holiday, having travelled all day it is extremely tiring to have to hang around for a couple of hours at stretton interchange for the feeder service to our final destination.

Recently spent a weekend at this hotel. Hotel needs lots of money spent on it. Our room was absolutely tiny. If one of us moved the other had to sit on the bed. The shower room(joke) was 2ft 6" approx wide the basin was too small to wash anything in but your hands, and the shower you could barely get into and shut the door. Food was OK but very small quantities. We left early. Never to return
