Should have stayed for three weeks on business. Could not sleep at all 1st week as the rooms are so noisy - can hear everything from outside and adjacent rooms. Was in room by swinging fire doors which were being opened all night. Asked to move for second week and was placed in room between two sets of fire doors and right outside lift. Rooms are very dated and it was impossible to sleep as can hear everything from other rooms and corridor. Advised staff who did nothing so I was forced to check out after 1st night of second week.

I cannot believe I went to the same hotel as some of the others who have reviewed this hotel.
I stayed at the Royal Moat House for 2 nights and had a fantastic time. The room was clean and comfortable. The food was great, lots of choice for breakfast and the staff very friendly and helpful. The interior of the hotel is very posh. Lovely tree lined avenue indoors, well decorated and clean.
We were given a warm and friendly welcome from all staff, even the cleaners.
Our car broke down at the end of the holiday and the staff let us keep it in the car park for free, until we could get it picked up. I cannot fault this hotel and cannot wait to go back.

Had a great time

from jodie102
Stayed at the royal moat house with my partner for one night. The hotel had it's own car park and it was quite reasonable. The service at reception was of a high standard and our room was although a little small was clean. The only thing that was slightly irritating was the fact that there was a hen party on the same floor so at night there was abit of noise. In the morning breakfast was excellent with an array of choice!

Excellent staff and very central

from ljm_65
I stay at this hotel at least once a month and always book when I am in Nottingham. The staff are always exceptionally helpful and will go out of their way to assist you in any way they can.

The rooms on the 4th floor and up are a little tired now and need to be upgraded asap, but they are always clean. The gym and pool are quiet and normally child free.

The breakfast is fantastic and the carvery is hearty - lighter healthier bites can be had in the bar.

The hotels in Nottingham are springing up everywhere but this is right in the city centre and the tram stops virtually outside the door.

Horrrible hotel

from Helen2648
Just returned from one night stay at this hotel and all I can say is never again!. We requested non smoking only to open the door to an overwhelming smell of stale smoke, the two chairs near the table at the window had names carved on them as you might see on a park bench and the bathroom was in a terrible state with rust all around the bath area. I can honestly say we have never stopped in a room as bad and we travel alot in both U.K. and the U.S.A. When we reported this to reception they apoligised and moved us to another floor [surely they must have known about the carvings!!!!!!]. The room they moved us to was clean and adequate but there are so many better hotels in Nottingham so don`t waste your money on this one. This was our first and will be our last experience with this hotel chain. We should have stayed at the Hilton as we normally do where the staff are both efficient and friendly unlike the young lady at check out that needed a course in customer service.

One to miss!

Definitely one to miss. Rooms shabby in need of decoration although clean(ish)!
Room not serviced at all one day met with indifferent response and quote of the weekend "I think some rooms are serviced only every other day!"
Request for cheese and biscuits instead of sweet at function dinner as printed on menu resulted in sweet "thrown" in front of you and told menu was a mistake and down to our Conference organisers! Oh no it wasn't I had copies of the original contract detail!
Public bars understaffed, "manager" walked away fed up with being busy (people staying in your hotel must be such an inconvenience) and lunch time sandwiches arrived in time for afternoon tea (almost!)
How many stars does it have? Must be a mistake.

Excellent Hotel

from astrange4
All I can say is that this hotel totally lived up to my expectations.
We booked an 'executive' room on the 8th floor, also known as a CROWN room, and it was worth it.
Large room, complimentary snacks they even threw in a free bottle of champagne.
Slap bang in the centre of town as well, so it's right next to the theatre and shops.
And don't forget the fantastic breakfast too......
Would definitely stay there again.

Fastest bath in the World!

from KLO_Newcastle
For £50 for a double room I was expecting a travelodge experience - plain, convient and clean. What we got was a little piece of unexpected luxury! Hidden away, but in the hotel district, the hotel doesn't have it's own car park, but linked to one next door (costs £9.50 a day) - thats the only negative. Expensive looking lobby area, friendly staff and a nice room. The bathroom had a bath that filled up to the top in less than a minute! Surely the fastest bath in the world! The buffet breakfast was super. Choice of full English, fruit salads, pastrys, cereals etc. in airy surroundings. Couldn't fault it. Still can't believe it was only £50 for two. Not sure if it was a special offer, but it was a Sunday night.

dreadful place

from Carol16
booked this hotel through a very reputable website LateRooms. When I arrived they claimed no record of my booking. Luckily they had a room. The next day I had checked with LateRooms and gave the very unhelpful reception staff the booking reference. They still denied all knowledge of it. When I got my credit card bill, they had charged me twice for the same room! Dreadful administration and half witted staff. I was there for a one day conference. The toilets outside the conference room were all out of order. There were no staff available when people came out for coffee, so we all queued for 10 mins. Lunch in the Blazers restaurant was excrable. Avoid this hotel whether for business or pleasure. There are far better places to stay in Nottingham.

Tiny Room

from Colley76
Tiny Room, small double bed pushed against the wall. Room needed refurbishing. Heating a bit strange & noisy.
Tried to eat in Carvery. We were kept waiting for over 20 mins even though the restaurant was virtually empty. Finally walked out & ate elsewhere.
Had booked for 2 nights but stayed only 1. They did refund the prepaid second night without quibble. Breakfast was good.
Would definitely NOT go back.

Not Bad But Not Really Royal!

Booked a mini-double room from last for £130.00 for 2 nights.
Location and the parking for the hotel was very easy to find.
On arrival we were upgraded to a full sized double room, which we were very pleased with.
The room was fine, it had a massive kingsize bed and spotless en-suite. We put the heating on in the room but after an hour of enduring cold air blowing out we phoned reception to see if they could sort it out.
Unfortunetly the heating for this room could not be fixed so we were upgraded again to the penthouse floor in a crown suite which usually costs £160 per night!!
We were obviously pleaseed! The room decor was a higher standard, free bottle of water, sweets, biscuits etc.
I must agree with some of the other reviews, the rooms could have been to a better standard but they were very clean.
The kings carvery was great. We payed £16.95 each for a three course meal. The presentation of food and choice was outstanding.
Blazers Restaurant was also excellant, food presentation was also outstanding.
Breakfast is served in The kings carvary, I think I can say that this is the best breakfast I have ever had in a hotel. Again loads of choice and good service.
The only down side of the restaurants was the cold!!!
It would be so much nicer if the heating went on in the evening around the hotel to make it cosier. After eating we would go straight up to our room to get warm!!
Overall I would book this hotel again but I think In the summer so it wasn't so chilly!!!!
