Not great but ok if you get it cheap

I stayed here mid March 06. We got a very good deal on the room which was £55 room only per night, that was by booking a month or so in advance.

First impressions of the hotel were good. Nice reception area which big fish tank (scored very highly with 16 month old) and bar. Our room was ok. Really very small. After much phaffing around we found somewhere to put the travel cot they supplied us but it wasn't ideal. The room was a bit tired looking but the bathroom was nice although stupidly big for the size of the room.

The pool, sauna and steam room were lovely. But it needed to be a few degrees warmer and don't be fooled by the jacuzzi...its just a seat with some bubbles and is part of the normal pool. The changing rooms were also freezing like the air con was on or something.

The valet parking was crap. We got our car 1.5 hours after the time we had requested it for. And the check in/out on Sunday (not the day we checked in or out on) was ridiculous! The valet guy looked like he was about to have a heart attack and there were only 3 check in staff with tens of people waiting.

My major complaints would be that the room was small, the pool too cold, valet parking, sheets didn't fit bed or cot.

Smaller complaints would be that the corridor was sooooo hot (with windows open to cool it down!!). Our view of some weird room garden wasn't great, the towels were tatty and the floorboards were really creaky. But it is a victorian building so I'll let it off.

The breakfast was really nice but not worth £16 each. Didn't eat any other food there. There are plenty of nice restaurants around.

My booze advice is watch out when buying a 250ml glass of wine. A lady at the next table was shocked to pay £6.75 per glass.

Position wise its really good. Close to restaurants and shops.

Three of us stayed at the Nottingham Hilton and cannot believe how so many people are complaining about the place????

The rooms were spotless,the decor lovely and the staff very helpful.Where has everyone else gone wrong???

We will be back to stay here in a few months time as we simply fell in love with the hotel.

Well done Nottingham Hilton Hotel.

Please please stay clear of this hotel. In my opinion, serious changes to management of this hotel. Fact, no heating in reception, bar or restaurant - the place was littered with portable warmers which made a noise. Also, black cable to the portable warmers were looses and a serious threat to health and saftey - an obvious "trip" hazard. Fact. checked in at 3pm - room not ready. We waited a further 1 hour before they were ready. Fact, out of the to rooms we booked - one room had fresh fruit, wine and mineral water - the other didn't. Fact, out of the 2 deluxe rooms we booked, one had a queen sized double, the other had a king plus size bed! Seemed like 1 rule for 1 guest, another for another. Fact, hotel decor was tired and worn (in general). Fact, our room on the 1st floor had squeeky floorboards, and I MEAN SQUEEKY - so did the room above, hence, we enjoyed a sleepless night! Fact, bar staff gave poor service. On a busy night, the manager stepped in to serve, served me and it took him a good 10 minutes to master the till! Midway through serving me he was on his mobile! Great! Ordered coffee a couple of times which took ages to come. Ordered drinks one night - the barman dropped them on our table (my wife had to get changed), he did apologise and gave us free pretsils, but he dropped these as he walked through the bar area and had to get the vacuum cleaner out! Also Ordered cocktails from off the menu! Our party were given 5 black russians - without the cola! Nice! Bar man asked US if he had made them correctly... "hmmm". Fact, complaints made to reception regarding rooms, met with stoney silences. To shrug their shoulders was an insult to HILTON. Fact, Restaurant - asked for menu one early afternoon for our evening meal. They couldnt find a menu. I waited a good 5 minutes before I was handed a staind A4 shhet of paper and told this was not uptodate. Asked again for recent copy. The lady run off and came back with another A4 sheet of paper and told me that she needs to photocopy it. I asked her to bring it too me once she had copied it. She never returned. Eventually I got it! Was glad to see free champagne on arrival. Fact, evening meal - no free champagne on arrival - had to argue with waiter. Eventually he brought us a flat glass of champers. Great. Fact, ordered bottle of champaign with meal. Brought an overflowing holder to table which saturated the floor. As the night progressed, the watered floor turned to a muddy sludge all the way down the restaurant. A nice intimate meal.... food was good. Ordered coffee, it never arrived. Ho hum. Menu stipulated "free gift for ladies". No free gift as we didnt book the table 4 weeks in advance, even though we are residents (and spent £300 in the bar the night before!). Fact, restaurant - at breakfast, rather busy - rushed waitresses. Allocated table by waitress only to be shifted by other guests as this was their table (they had only gone to the buffet to get food). We had to wait a further 30 minutes and were told to leave the restaurant. Fact, the sauna in the pool was not working. No sign or explanation. Finally, I hope this report gets published as I want people to know how bad this place is. I won't be returning.

During our stay we found hotel services badly lacking. I am handicapped, and was forced to move our luggage by myself. No porter service was available. We arrived at our room, which was tiny and cramped. The linen on one bed was dirty and I called the desk to have housekeeping change the sheets. (Not entirely trusting the former occupants.) They did not show up for 24 hour. Breakfast was an odd one. A lovely dining room with horrible food. Eggs cooked solid, room temperature coffee and tea, and some horrible concoction called haggis. McDonalds around the corner was better. I ended up checking out early (While struggling with my bags/crutches again.) and completing my Nottingham stay at the Royal Moathouse, which was very nice.

My opinion os Hilton Hotel, Milton St, Nottingham, "What a dump."

Very Disappointed

I stayed at the Hilton for my birthday celebration. I was very disappointed, they had my booking wrong on arrival which took up to half hour to sort out, our double room was tiny, you could only get out one side of the bed and the space around the bed was extremely limited. since coming back from the hotel I have had money coming out of my bank account for items I had not brought or even signed for, still trying to resume this now over a month later and not getting anywhere, I just want my money back!

Not bad, but tired decor

After a very stressful 250 mile journey to Nottingham I had to phone the hotel for directions once I got to the city; I spoke to the guy in charge of the valet parking (no on-site car park so they take your car away somewhere) who was extremely helpful and 5 mins later I had arrived. First impressions of the actual building were good and it looks very well located for city activities but congestion in the dropping-off area with cars all over the place left me ever so slightly annoyed. On check-in, the receptionist was pleasant enough but lacking any real enthusiasm and I had to ask for an early morning call/newspaper etc as they weren't offered. Three miles of corridors later with peeling paint/wallpaper and I found my room, (just). Huge bed, and everything else you'd expect. The one window looked out onto a flat roof, with an apalling view of pigeon mess and more very badly peeling paint. Good job it was dark. Room service dinner was very efficient and more edible than some I've tried. Breakfast reasonable but table still with crumbs from previous guest. Truly terrible coffee in 1 litre capacity mugs, so you don't have to bother asking for a re-fill I presume. All in all, not awful but not great either - will try somewhere else next time.

Really Lovely Weekend

We went to the Hilton, Nottingham for a weekend away, the hotel staff were lovely and helpful and very friendly (especially Philip behind the bar) the room was clean tidy and had all the essentials. It was decorated well, and the bathroom had clean lovely towels. The food in the restaurant was lovely too and the service was excellent. I would definately go there again.....without a doubt.

Not good Enough for a Hilton

This hotel is a former 3 star Stakis rebadged a Hilton and its origins show. It is tired and despite a lick of paint is clearly not up to Hilton standards. I checked in on quiet Friday night and despite being a Gold HHonors member was given a room with two single beds zipped together and no external view - a window looked out at a skylight covered in pigeon droppings. Breakfast is usually good at a Hilton here it was inadequate and served in a very cramped space next to reception. They called me a cab which took an age - no one kept me informed. Like others I stayed because HHonors gives an incentive to stay loyal to Hilton. This wasn't diabolical but mediocre quality more akin to a Ramada and lack of recognition for my frequent stay membership mean I will approach with care. Come on Hilton you need to do a lot better.

I've just read the other reviews of the Hilton and have to agree.
I had booked an 'executive double' like one of your other reviewers, but could not see what made it executive.
On the first night I was awoken by a noise at 2am- a banging and gurgling and was told it was the boiler, on calling to reception. It was switched off and then quiet again.
The next evening I asked to check whether the boiler would again be going at 2am and was told that it was a one off, and the fault had been corrected. At 2am I was again awoken, by the boiler.
The next morning I complained, and my room was changed, to what I guess was a 'executive double'.

I ordered room service to celebrate, and they got my order wrong (20 min wait), so had to wait another 30 mins to get the correct order.

Despite being a hilton honours card holder, I will never stay at the hilton in nottingham again!

Helpful and professional staff

Stayed over on a recent Sunday evening at very short notice.

Rock bottom price obtained from internet search.

Arrived in Nottinham by car at 11 p.m. Could not find hotel so called them and very hepful concierge spent about 10 mins talking us in.

When we asked about parking he told us they could valet park our car for £15 but helpfully pointed out that as it was late we could park in multi storey opposite for £4.

On booking in asked if Financial Times could be delivered to my room. Receptionist fine about this but also pointed out that there were complimentery copies of The Times in the hotel reception area in the morning and that she would arrange for one to be brought to our room if preferred - which duly happened.

Room itself was on small side but nicely furnished and entirely adequate for a city centre hotel in a traditional building. Bathroom was modern and classy.

Breakfast was above average with an extensive range of buffet ityems.

Staff v helpful in assisting me to identify an office stationers as I needed some material at short notice.

Had to come back to hotel area after my meeting and they were quite happy about my leaving car on their limited forecourt parking area for an hour at no charge.

Overall I found the hotel enjoyable and pleasant with a level of individual attention that is unusual in chain hotels nowadays.

Great curry For a great curry try the restaurant calles CHUTNEY, it is excellent, fast service and very good food.

Getting there When you finnaly see the hotel down Milton St. there is a no auto entry sign busses and taxis only, so I turned right to find another route to the hotel but after driving around I notice a little sign on the lamp post to the left that says no cars except for hotel guests. so when you see the hotel just drive straight to it.

Michelin Starred restaurant Restaurant Sat Bains is good value for a Michelin Starred restaurant with the exception of the stingy measures on wines by the glass 125ml.
