Historical Traveller Reviews of Comfort Hotel Nottingham

Comfort By Name, Comfort By Nature

from hulse2k
When I found out I was staying in a hotel called "Comfort Hotel" I thought it was the company cutting costs again, how I could be so wrong, the hotel is slap bang in the middle of town and a stones throw from the train station which is handy. The lobby has internet access on the computer, with a small reception with just one receptionist. The hotel interior does seem outdated, by only the equipment it appears (such as lift and TV's) The bed's are one of the most comfortable I have ever had the pleasure of sleeping in, absolute delight to sleep in. The room was very small, but the bed just made up for it, I strongly recommend setting an alarm because you will not want to get up in the morning! The food hall is nice and clean, the food was acceptable, but if you like your food, I would advise on eating out in one of the many eateries in the near vicinity. Nottingham itself was very architectural and pleasant, with a busy nightlife. Room service it does say is provided 24 hours a day, but when I asked for a sandwich at 12midnight I was told the chef had gone home, but they did bring me a plate of biscuits for no charge which I thought was quite novel and slightly amusing. At least I got a snack, and not having to pay made it all the more better. I would recommend this hotel, and next time my work takes me to Nottingham I will be staying in this hotel again.

A dumping ground for Nottinghams Drunk!

from molokoid
My Saturday night stay at the hotel was pretty appalling. A room rate of £89 for a double including breakfast is well over the odds. For value for money you should really be paying £45 tops for this.

The rooms were antiquated, poorly maintained, but clean. Littered with poorly designed and colour printed adverts for additional hotel services. Clip art overload!

There was a rugby club dinner and 'dance' on the night i stayed, and this is very much who the hotel is marketed at, the heavily drunk! The first floor toilets were so overloaded with sick when i arrived back at midnight that i had to find the manager and tell him to close them off.

Drunk lads rampaging down the corridors and a fire alarm at 3am pretty much settled it that this is a terrible hotel.

Not as bad as feared

The hotel was not half as bad as some reviewers led me to expect but that may just have been luck. We had three rooms - a double and two singles. The double was fine as was one of the singles. The other single was at the back of the house and was verk dark - but it was equipped as well as the others. The breakfast room in this hotel is too small to acommodate the numbers staying there which probably accounts for difficulties at breakfast. The actual breakfast was fine. The staff were outstanding but I suspect working under great pressure. They were charming and very helpful. We got a deal on this hotel £57 for the double, £40 for the each for the singles. That is about the right price. I wouldn't have paid their advertised price.

Dark, horrible, poorly decorated rooms & over priced. It's a hotel stuck in a time warp - it's only saving grace is the location (In the heart of Nottingham city centre). Never ever would i stay here again. The place needs bulldozing

Excellent Staff

I stay in hotels a lot through my work. I can honestly say that the Comfort in Nottingham has the friendliest staff I have had the pleasure of meeting. The room was clean and spacey and my stay was very relaxing. The bottle of twelve pound chardonney from the bar was very good value if you like new world wines.

The price was also very good, about 50 quid including breakfast.

The breakfast was average, but the staff were fantastic. Overall much better than any other Comfort hotel I've been in.

With only a little effort,it could be a lot better..!

We stayed at the Comfort Inn Nottingham on Friday 10th December 2004 becuase we had tickets for Elton John (which was cancelled-bad luck for us). We had booked the hotel on the internet, partyl on the strength of the reviews on tripadvisor but also because we were a little late in booking so were a bit desperate!. It seemed ok anyway.

The hotel is in a central location only a few minutes walk from the Ice Arena. Staff are friendly and obliging. Our room was 401 i think, way up on the top floor so a good view could be had, thats if you enjoy a view of City centre Nottingham1. It was supposed to be a none smoking room but it reeked of cigarettes, a smell that we could not get rid of,even after leaving windows open when we went out.

In addition, the cleaner needs a talking to as when we went to our room we found biscuit and chocolate crumbs by the side of the bed and worse, a discarded condom wrapper just under the edge of the base of the bed on the floor!.

The noise from the streets and nearby bars/clubs,even on the top floor, was disturbing.

Breakfast-again staff pleasant, room bright and tidy enough,a good range of foods but mostly tasting not very appetising.

I'm not an overly demanding customer and i'm not the sort to shout, scream and make a scene. OK so its a budget hotel-fair enough. Just a little extra effort could have made all the difference, like a smoke free clean room and some decent breakfast food.

I did fill in my survey slip and attached a covering letter to the hotel chain Manager, hopefully he has had a chat to his staff. Elton is re-scheduled for June 05 and I wont be staying at the Comfort Inn.

We stayed the night of March 18th 2005.The 2 receptionists were helpful, friendly, they made us feel so welcome! The breakfast was hot and plenty of it! The staff again were helpful, and friendly.I will certainly book this hotel again! Thank you!

Room ok but SO NOISY !!

from Frostycat
There was a power-cut on our floor, but the staff moved us to another floor no problem, and I can say that both rooms were very nice. It was great to be central for the shops and the Ice Arena, but at night the hotel was so noisy it was unbelievable. People tramping through the corridors making a racket all through the night. The breakfast was distinctly average. Most of what was shown on the menu did not actually appear on the buffet. However it was pretty cheap. A good base for shopping and entertainment, but don't expect to get any sleep !

The worst hotel in the world!!!!!

from Chesworth
I have never stayed in such an awful hotel.

Our room was next to the kitchens, the doors to which were left open. The room was in the need of renovation and the bathroom was awful. We weren't allowed in the hotel bar and didn't get a wink of sleep due to the noise from the bar and outside.

Its what I imagine hell is like!
