Very Poor
Oh dear! Just returned from a 1 week break at the Esplanade Hotel .... our Sea View room was absolutely terrible value for money. We honestly felt like we were staying in a hostel. The room was in a very poor state decor wise. The toilet / bathroom in particular was very bad - looking like a public toilet. No effort at all having been made by the hotel to make it look at all attractive - and it smelt of stale urine ! ... we complained about the smell and the condition of our room immediately of course- and they sent somebody to clean the room - but basically told us "tough" with regards to our room - and that "we were not obliged to stay" (we had already paid). The smell was back by the next day ... basically the bathroom has a LINO ! flooring over creaky wooden floorboards - and i suspect that the floor under the lino was soaked in pee ! (the lino was all puffed up around the base of the toilet)

Don't hold your breath
Web site for this hotel looks good, dont be fooled. Doesn't look the same in real life.
The photos of the premium rooms or honeymoon suite looks good but the rest of the rooms look nothing like them. Every floorboard creeks, the fan in the toilet sounded like theres a seagull trapped in the roof. If using the indoor swimming pool remember to use the toilet before hand as the gents toilet is a stroll through the games room and the ladies is near reception. Oh and remember to get the code for the swimming pool doors as reception probably wont tell you about that, then when you get to the pool area you will need to buy tokens to use some facilities so yes thats another treck back to reception. Have a nice stay!
