I had some friends over to stay last weekend for the may holidays and I decided to take them to the Ox haven’t been there in a while to my pleasant surprise the place has had a face lift and it seems has a new Manager and staff. We had booked into eat for the evening and had 4 x the 2 courses for £10 I must say this was really good value for money very well cooked and seemed to be all home made. We also discovered on our way out that they have 10 rooms well I never know that and at only 35 per night what! Ok the manager told me they are all being refurbished and will go up to 49.95 per night still a good deal for such a good location and a lovely place. We all had a wonderful evening and stayed over 3 hours just enjoying the food and atmosphere. This was a good idea my friends thank me so I would like to make my own thanks, Thank you the OX! We need more places like this in Manchester.

I booked into the Ox a few days ago and am happy to see they are doing a refurb on the rooms upstairs. I got to stay in one of the updated rooms and found it warm and clean and very acceptable for a good price. I used to stay at hotel down the road when on business trips to Manchester. There is no turning back now the Ox is for me now especially with its good food and cask ales this is my home way from home. what a sweet charming place

Ate at the restaurant with my parents this Tuesday evening - extremely good food & excellent, attentive waiter service! The restaurant is known for its good food & rightly so tonight! It's also as little as £35/night to stay in the hotel - possibly the 2nd oldest city centre inn in Manchester - & I would gladly pay that if I didn't actually live here - right opposite the MOSI (Museum of Science & Industry). It's a very warming pub/bar with a real character of its own. Had been meaning to book a meal here for a while & am truly glad that we went tonight. (You won't be disappointed going here ;-) )

The staff only seemed happy clearing people out at 10.55pm

Title says it all. Not an eight because the very long waiting time for the food (wich was excellent) and the fries were forgotten and only half done when we asked for them a second time. On the whole a good experience and if we ever go to Manchester again, we'll be staying in the OX.

If you are looking for somewhere to crash for the night the Ox is the place to come. The food looked nice and they has a good selection of cocktails at the bar at a very reasonable price. The room was large and very warm and clean - would certainly stay again.

Was ignored at the bar by 4 of the staff, nearly gave up. Rooms ok but very noisy and windows wouldn't open. More interested in serving the Coronation Street regulars than the guests.

Closed kitchen early at lunchtime so no lunch, went back evening told no kids after 8pm.

Arriving at the Ox hotel (approx a ten minute walk away from Piccadily train station) we thought we'd come to the wrong place as it looked more like a pub. But the Ox has nine rooms available at the extremely reasonable price of £45 per room. Although basic, the rooms come with all you need from a place to rest your head. All rooms en-suite with kettle/TV ect. The best thing about this accomodation is it's proximity to the city's nightlife and shops. Shocked that can find accomodation this reasnable, this cheap and this close to the city centre. The pub itself is also very pleasant, real homely and friendly atmosphere whith outdoor seating where you can watch the world go by. Excellent menu (both food and drinks Wise). This accomodation is ideal for anyone who wants to see the city on a budget. The perfect place to rest your feet after a day shopping or a night dancing. Recommended.
