Have read a few reviews on this page, some not complimentary. Stayed @ Pymgate Lodge now on 6 occasions (two times per year for last three years)always pre flight. Hotel has had three owners in that time. Last stay was Leda & Razvan Ardeleanu they have improved things, especially service a lot!!! Lovely hard working couple (I believe ex cabin crew) No it's not the Grosvenor (yes I have stayed there too) but inexpensive, clean, friendly and very very close for early morning check-in @ Manchester Airport. Just booked to stay again in November (2 rooms)

I have just stayed at the Pymgate Lodge and I was most pleased. The staff we extreemly friendly and accomidating. The hotel its self has and old country feel to it, some people may believe it to be dated, yet i consider the hotel to be warm and welcoming woth a homely feel you do not get from modern hotels.

Run down and forgotten

The only positive experience was Gloria who seemed to be booking clerk, receptionist, cleaner, cook and administrator all in one! She did her best with limited resources. No shampoo provided in bathroom, only a half used soap bar on shower tray. No bisciuts on tea tray. No hairdryer. Breakfast was fruit juice from a carton, UHT milk in tea, white stale toast and a selection of weetabix, cornfalkes and rice crispies and fruit. We were in the family room at front of hotel and the road was busy. Fortunately we arrived at 1am so the traffic noise didn't stop us sleeping - we were so tired. Had it not been for the friendly smile provided by the one women band, I would have found paying £79.50 for our brief stay very galling. The owners should get their act together or future travellers will vote with their feet.
