The most shabby hotel I've stayed in

On arrival the staff seamed pleasant enough, my room was on the 2nd floor & some of the stairs didn’t have hand rails. On opening the door to my room it hit one of the twin beds which meant it could only be half opened, the walls had dirty marks all over the place especially around the light switch. The TV was right next to the wash basin which was full of cracks & held together with gaffer tape underneath, this obviously poses serious health & safety issues. The toilet seat was dirty, so was the bath & the duvet covers didn’t look much better. Below my room was a small ally which sounded as if it was cobbled because the wheelie bins could be clearly be heard through the badly fitting single glazed & broken windows. This is one place I will never stay at again!

Avoid at all costs

My principal complaints are the following: multiple patches of chewing gum on the carpets, a toilet that rocked from not being attached to the bathroom floor, the last occupant's non-head hair being left in the bed (mattress also extremely uncomfortable), and the general lack of cleanliness in the hotel. The staff were also uncommunicative and by no means welcoming. I cannot see a reason for anyone to stay here. I would expect much better cleanliness and service from a youth hostel (which would be cheaper) and for not much more you could stay at a reliable chain hotel.

Lovely weekend!

Great price for a lovely room in a perfect location. Amazing views around. The place was obviously old and a bit crooked inside but had great character. All night porter so we could enjoy the awesome nightlife just around the corner- though we were tucked away from all the hustle and bustle quite nicely. Room was comfortable, clean and tidy and had a great sleep- got a bit stuffy at times but windows were easy to open. bathroom could do with some renovation but it was acceptable. Staff were ok, not as bad as some make out!

The room was not very clean. We were told that breakfast was included in the price but when checking out had to pay over £7 for and it was not that nice

Do not go to this hotel

For the 200+ pounds that we paid for three nights (two for ourselves, one for the others with us) we got incredibly rude staff, a shower that was only 5' high and several broken items plus creaky floorboards and a vile smell in one of the rooms. Looks nice from the outside but is terrible inside and I simply can't express how awful the staff were. AVOID.

Worst hotel I´ve ever stayed!

The only good thing I can rewiew about the Mitre is the excellent location only 300 metres from Victoria train station and MEN Arena. Apart from that my stay of 2 nights was a nightmare. My room was not very well cleaned with little hairs everywere and scruffy towels. The noise from the generator outside my window kept going all day and night with little break in between. I had to keep the window shut because of the noise and the smell of cooking fat from the kitchen window opposite. I wouldn´t recommend the Mitre and definitely won´t staying there again! It´s not worth the value of money. There are other hotels in Manchester which are located very well too...
