Great spa and pool!

from littlesthobo1978
Had a lovely relaxing time, when we arrived we told the receptionist we would be getting the shuttle bus to the airport the following day at 3pm so she let us have a late check-out which was great and meant we could relax the following morning. After we checked in we went for a swim straight away, was lovely - jaquzzi, sauna, steam room, pool and a large well equipped gym, staff very friendly too. Room was huge and very clean, lovely big bed! Complimentary Shampoo, moisturiser,Shower gel and down at the spa there was cotton wool, cleanser, toner and facial moisturiser.

Only downside was 'Players' restaurant, very expensive for what you get. Very salty and we were still hungry after. Wish we had went to the hotel restaurant.

Our breakfast was included and there really was everything you could think of. Fruit salad, yogurt, smoked salmon, cheeses, spicy sausage, everything involved in a cooked british brekkie, toast, jam cereal - everything! And you could keep going up for more. Back to the pool after breakfast then took the free shuttle bus to the airport. Excellent, really enjoyed our night.

Great pool

We booked at the Marriott Manchester Airport for two reasons-one; we had to make a morning flight and two; we needed a pool for the kids, ages 4 and 6. This was our last night in England.
The room we booked was enormous--an Executive Suite on the corner with all the right amenities. The pool is a work of art--good for serious lap swimmers as well as circular areas for kiddie play--1.4m deep so bring water wings for the non-swimmers or you can buy them there. Hot tub, steam room, sauna with plunge pool and exquisite locker rooms. This was a perfect place for the kids EXCEPT the food. For lunch and dinner, the three restaurants DO NOT cater to the under ten child. The remedy is dinner by room service--where they actually have a children's menu which worked for us, though it was $$$--kind of gave us the sneaking suspicion that they did not want the kids IN the restaurants. Breakfast was included in our package and was fine for all. Courtesy van to and from the airport was timely and professional. Great experience overall--a little pricey compared to a few of the hotels in the area, but worth it for the lovely facilities.

ok hotel

We arrived on July 9th and had a party of 4- 2 adults and two children. We arrived at 8:00 and they were over booked. The executive room with two double beds which was confirmed for us was not available. The lady behind the desk was really nice and was able to give us a room with a pull out couch and a bed. So that worked out well. The walk to the room was quite a distance and carrying our own luggage was not fun. We decided to eat dinner in the bar and get a hamburger, chicken sandwich for the wife, a kids chicken fingers and an order of hot wings. It took over an hour and fifteen minutes to get the order. When I spoke to the manager of the restaurant, he apologized for the time, but said the kitchen was backed up with two weddings going on at the same time. He said that we should have eaten in the restaurant on the property. He was very apologetic and comped our dinner that night, a savings of 50 pounds. Since the meal was comped, the chocolate cake was delicious. The indoor pool looked magnificent, however children are not allowed inside after 7:00 PM. The room was nice and it was nice to find a hotel with airconditioning and great water pressure.

Did the job!

I stayed at this hotel for one night before a long haul flight from Manchester Airport. Check in was quick and the receptionist was very efficient, we were given a map to find our room but to be honest it was that large we still managed to get lost!

Room was of a high standard, clean and comfortable. We had a meal in the bar, which was very good, and we found the staff to be very helpful.

The following morning check out was again quick and a bus took us to the airport, it was about a 5min ride.
Only problem when we arrived back at Manchester airport I was told to use the courtesy phone, which is blue in the arrival hall to ring and ask the hotel to pick us up. I tried constantly for a good 10minutes but to avail, in the end I had to phone reception from my mobile so make sure you have the hotel number ready!

Loved it

Stayed one night prior to a long haul flight the next morning i booked a double room and we parked our car there for 15 days for a cost of £125.
We actually got a king size sleepwell room which was very nice the bed was the comfiest i have slept in for ages. We had a outer rear door which overlooked the garden. Staff were very efficient and althought the corridors are long a winding we had no trouble finding our room.
We decided to eat in Players restaurant which turned out to be very very costly although we enjoyed our meal i did feel that £102 for a 2 course meal 2 coffees a bottle of water and a medium priced bottle of wine was to say the least expensive. But as we were flying off the next day we just got into the holiday mood a night earlier. Breakfast was a little rushed on our part but what we had was hot and nicely cooked. On arrival back at Manchester we telephoned the hotel and the driver came within 20 minutes and even parked next too our car so we could unload our luggae because it was raining. I would certainly return to the Marriott.

Not great for a Marriott

I recently stayed at the Manchester Airport Marriott and was not impressed. Check in went ok except for the fact that we got lost trying to find our room! Rambling corridors and sketchy directions from the receptionist didn't help. The room itself was spacious and clean as was the bathroom. Housekeeping needs a few lessons though on how to make a bed properly! The bottom sheet wasn't tucked in and our night clothes were left thrown across the bed in a jumble. If you stay at this hotel please check all dates on food items in the mini bar as it was stocked with out of date products! Stock rotation is obviously not something Marriott staff in this hotel are aware of. The service in the bar was non existent and we were left sitting with an over flowing ashtray at our table...which we emptyed ourselves! We ordered food from the bar menu and when it arrived the waiter simply plonked the plates down amongst the dirty glasses and said over flowing ashtray. Disgusting. To my mind the staff at this hotel just don't have a clue.I felt I was staying at a hotel " training camp" and was totally bemused by the lack lustre attitude of the staff.
Why does this hotel have the Marriott brand or more to the point...for how much longer will this hotel have the Marriott brand? Pull up your socks people!

Great Hotel

There were 8 of us going skiing so stayed at the Marriott the night before our flight and the hotel was great.

After we arrived and had drinks we decided to go to a local pub to watch the football! One of the minibus drivers took us free of charge becuase it was raining! He also offered to pick us up!

Room was big, bed very comfortable, bathroom clean etc. The swimming pool looked really inviting, just a shame we weren't there for longer as would have loved to use the facilities.

No complaints about this hotel at all. We parked our car for 15 days when we made the reservation and when we landed back at Manchester we just phoned the hotel and within 10 minutes the minibus came to collect us!

Service could be better

Stayed here before a flight from Manchester to Cuba. Checkin in was OK although the guy at the desk seemed a little bored with being there. Despite having four suitcases we were not offered a bellboy and had to drag our cases (and two of them were HUGE) up to our rooms (no lifts) and it was a long walk. Both me and my partner have back problems so this was not ideal. In fairness, we arrived late but even if a bellboy could not be provided, an apology for not been able to assist would have been courteous. We would have left the larger cases in our car (which we parked at the furthest point from reception!) if we'd known there was no bellboy. The room itself was excellent. We did not book an executive room but there was a nice welcome tray and fresh fruit and water as well as slippers and robes. The bed was huge and so comfortable that we did not want to get up when our alarm call awoke us at 5:30am. We checked out quickly but there was a bit of a wait for the 6:00am shuttle bus to the airport. Luckily we had allowed ourselves plenty of time so apart from the inconvenience of having to hang around waiting for it, it did not impact our flight. The hotel is only one junction away from the airport. On return to Manchester we simply phoned the hotel who sent the mini bus out for us and some other people of our flight. Overall, yes we will definately stay at the Marriott again when we fly from Manchester in October and hope we get the same standard of room again. We found the Marriott excellent for our needs and great value for money.

Chaotic Booking and lack of service

from jenny096
We stay at this hotel fairly regularly when visiting family, but are unlikely to do so again. We had booked an Executive Suite - for our family of 4 - as we had done on previous occasions. we had to change the date of our stay - we gave adequate notice and moved the booking back by 3 days. I was assured by the Marriott central booking system(there is no other way of booking) that this was fine, and had a booking reference number by way of confirmation. On arrival at the hotel, we were allocated 4 different rooms, none of which was the correct one - this involved a lot of trekking along the endless corridors of this sprawling hotel! It became clear that the hotel had no booking for us, and we eventually had to accept a standard double room with a sofa bed. The room was a smoking one (we had booked non-smoking), and was clearly in need of a refurbishment. On paying the next day (we were only charged for the lower grade room we'd occupied) the reception staff member apologised and said that a member of management would ring us to explain the problem that had occured. This never happened, but Marriott did charge ou credit card with the cost of the Executive room for the first, cancelled, booking as they were treating us as a "no-show"! After a lot of trouble, we did get this charge removed. I have written to the Manager of the Hotel about this complete mix-up, but have not even received an acknowledgement.
If you are thinking of staying here, check your booking VERY carefully and don't expect any service/help if things go wrong.

Great Value for Money!!

Stayed here before an early morning flight from Manchester Airport. Usually stay in the Radisson SAS so wasn't sure what to expect from this hotel. Picked it as it was a reasonable price and it included breakfast and free courtesy bus to and from the airport. Arrived off the train in the airport at approx 6pm and called for the courtesy bus to come - it arrived within 10 mins and came and collected me even though I was the only passenger on the whole mini bus. The staff were very friendly and chatty on the way to the hotel. It does take approx 10 mins to get there but its not too bad.

I was very impressed with the rooms - they were of a good size with good amenities such as wide screen tv and tea and coffee making facilities. All rooms overlook a courtyard and have a patio which is nice for a UK hotel. Due to the location of the hotel - just off the motorway you would expect the hotel to be noisy but it isnt at all - really peaceful.

We had a snack in the restaurant and it was expensive but arent all hotels. Food was nice and service friendly. We booked onto the early morning transfer - you need to do this as the 7am transfers are very popular and also arranged a wake up call.

Next morning we had a quick bite for brekkie wish we had longer as there was a huge buffet and then got the free transfer back to the airport - they take you to your chosen terminal.

Didnt sample the leisure facilities as didnt have time. Think this hotel is a good alternative to the Radisson SAS but a much more reasonable price.
