What A Luxurious Treat

I stopped here on Saturday, 18 November 2006 for one night only. I had booked an executive room and so was directed to the 23rd floor for the executive check in which was completed while you enjoyed complimentary coffee and cakes. Between the hours of 5 and 8pm we enjoyed complimentary pre-dinner drinks - Bottled Budweisers, a large variety of spirits and mixers, wines and canapes, again on the 23rd floor looking out onto the most spectaculor views. Our room was on the 19th floor and with floor to ceiling windows to enjoy the magnificent views. The rooms is very nicely decorated, with a huge bed in the centre which provided the best nights sleep i've ever had, it was like sleeping on a cloud. There is a flat screen TV at the bottom of the bed. There is also, tea and coffee, refrigerated mini bar (payable), complimentary bottles of water, hairdryer, bath robes, slippers, sewing kit, shampoo's and conditioners, loofah's, bath scents, nail file. In the morning, complimentary breakfast was served on the 23rd floor again - this was excellent also comprising of bacon, sausage, tomato, egg, or toasts, croissants, cereal's, fruit and a variety of fresh fruit juices with coffee.
Cloud 23 looked like a good atmosphere but didn't go there myself as I had a night in a beer tent on the German Christmas markets planned! There is also a swimming pool and hot tub (sorry can't remember which floor now) but it's only small for perhaps doing a couple of lengths in.
Parking - there is an NCP car park right next to the hotel, we asked the concierge to stamp out ticket at check out and paid £10 for 24 hours. The hotel was then within waking distance of the city centre shops.
The staff were exceptional - very polite, friendly and helpful.
I booked out of this hotel feeling like i'd had good value for money, totally pampered and relaxed and planning my next visit (just hope I get my complimentary chocolates next time).

Fantasic stay

My boyfriend, who lives in Manchester, treated us both to an overnight stay at the Hilton, Deansgate, Manchester. We booked into a King executive room which cost £160, booked directly with the Hilton. We were situated on the 16th floor and could not fault the room at all. Fantastic views, 2 flat screen tv's, jacuzzi bath and shower with 5 shower heads! We spent a couple of hours in the executive lounge on the 23rd floor and helped ourselves to a selection of complimentary alcoholic drinks and snacks before making our way to the cloud 23 bar where we sampled a range of delicious cocktails. Cocktails were priced from about £7.50 which we could not complain about, considering our surroundings and the excellent and attentive service we received. We found all the staff very helpful and friendly. The room was high tec and very clean. We ate breakfast, included in our rate, in the restaurant on the ground floor although we could have had continental breakfast in the executive lounge. We would both recommend the Hilton in Deansgate and will certainly be visiting again.

Great location, fab beds, smart rooms, lovely facilities!

Stayed here on business in Nov 06. First off, i had none of the problems with staff or fire alarms previously reported, although they did struggle a bit to get a grip on our group corporate booking and had to keep checking with the credit card owner - just a few minutes' delay when checking in.

Only other tiny gripe - stupid charges for internet access. £15 is not OK, and it's time free wireless became standard anywhere which is accomodating business travellers.

This hotel is brilliantly located on central Deansgate, which i imagine would be great if you were there for fun (ie shopping) rather than work. The rooms are really smart, decor and fixtures very high quality, and bed particularly fabulous - super comfy, feather (i think) duvets and pillows, and quality linen. Also reasonably quiet although you can hear a low drone from traffic below, even from the twelfth floor which i was on, and the odd siren etc.

Pool / spa area also very lovely, you could tell it was all brand spanking new, and the pool is surrounded by floor to ceiling glass so you can window shop on deansgate from the jacuzzi. There was also nobody using the facilties most of the time, i had it all to myself. Lovely sauna and steam room also.

Breakfast probably the best i've ever had in a large hotel. Huge range of fruit and healthy stuff, juices, even a juicer with fresh ingredients including wheatgrass if you want to make your own. I didn't - i was much more focused on the cooked stuff, including for once mushrooms properly sauteed rather than boiled of all flavour, and made to order pancakes and omelettes.

The Cloud Bar on the 23rd floor is also a nice touch - fabulous views, and a quiet and elegant ambience. Cocktails were silly money (£12 for a glass of wine, anyone?!) but then i guess that comes with the territory.

I think we paid £135 room & breakfast - would highly recommend this one for business travellers or a romantic / shopping getaway, given the health facilities.

We stayed in an Executive room on the 22nd floor - great views! I didn't think the Executive Lounge was as good as the one at Canary Wharf Hilton; a bit sterile, but still quite good. Nice breakfast up there too. The food and drinks prices were OK and the pool area looked great. Staff were excellent. Try looking through the glass floor panels in the 23rd floor Cloud23 Bar - it's only 230 feet down!
We'll definitely stay there again!

This hotel looks good but the staff treat you as if you are a rough sleeper until they are convinced you are actually going to be staying there. The staff are rude and the hotel over rates itself by its snobbery.

A poor start hope it gets better..

Had a brillinat stay over the weekend in this brand new Hilton hotel. Booked into an Executive King Plus and made use of the jacoozi style bath and flatscreen T.V in the bathroom!

We were welcomed by the highly efficient staff and made to feel that nothing was of trouble. The executive lounge has amazing views and the complimentry food and drinks is well worth the extra!

The breakfast was a tad dissapointing as has been mentioned but to be honest after drinking the bar dry the previous night a light continental was all I could handle!

Its well worth booking in advance due to the discount you receive on the rack rates, the risk being that it is non refundable if you have to cancel.

Car parking was an NCP right next door which you get a discount from the hotel (see the concierge on your way out).

Overall we highly recommend the hilton for a weekend of shopping or if your planning to see any gigs in the MEN as we did (its a good 20 min walk up Deansgate or you could use the nearby tram).

Fantasticly special break, treated how you should be !!

Stayed in a Executive Room which means that you are sent from the main reception to the Executive Lounge to check-in on the 23 floor for a bit more privacy and intamacy, once you have checked in then the Executive lounge is there for you to enjoy on a complementary basis - either at Afternoon tea or Pre-Dinner drinks from 17.00 to 20.00. This makes an excellent start to whatever night you have planned, and the lounge has great views for you to enjoy. The room was really nice with again great views and with nice clean, modern furnishings - bathrobes and slippers were provide and use of the mini-bar and room service was at your disposal should you choose to. The swimming pool and sauna/steam room and jacoozi we also very impressive and helped to unwind before the evenings entertainment, which after the Executive bar include a couple of drinks in the Cloud 23 bar - don't worry,as we did, if you see a que because as residents you will be ushered straight to the front of it !! Hotel has a great location at the bottom of Deansgate and makes an excellent starting point if you are planning to enjoy Manchesters night life. The breakfast was a slight dissapointment as there were only small hot trays of food available, like you would get at a wedding buffet. As I recall there were only 4 trays - 1 had sausage, another bacon, another egg and the last beans which were all together on one small table in a corner of the lounge (you do not have breakfast with the other guests in the restaraunt if you have an Exec room) it just seemed badly layed out and not that plentyful. However there were a few other types of breakfast to choose from i.e a good range of continental style offerings. This did not detract from the fact that this is a fantastic hotel with first rate staff which all made for a very special short break for us, we are already thinking about retuning and getting and Exec Plus room next time (has jacoozi style bath and flatscreen T.V in the bathroom aswell) makes an excellent place to have a "Special" break.

Stayed at the Hiton for one night when in Manchester on business. I found the Hotel staff to be friendly and curteous with the view from the 23rd floor lounge to be stunning. Rooms well appointed and comfortable as you would expect of a new hotel of this standard.
The 23rd floor lounge is obviously becoming a magnet for the locals with guests having to take their place in a que to take the express elevator to that area.
No hotel parking available, NCP car park adjacent to the hotel used with a discount offered for guests. This however still amounts to £9 for overnight stay.
Would I stay again yes but as other reviewers have highlighted work has to be done to improve the attention given to the complete package.

This hotel has no idea of customer service. As a Diamond Hilton Honors member (archived by staying in Hiltons hotels 90+ nights a year) I was denied access to the executive lounge which I’m entitled to under the terms and conditions of the program. When challenged about this I was told it was hotel policy not to upgrade to the executive floor (even if available) and if I didn’t like it there was nothing they could do.

Well there’s something I could do, instantly checking out and rebooking in to the Marriott Victoria & Albert around the corner, which was fantastic.

Having since complained to HHonors office in Glasgow they have advised me that they are very angry about the policy put in place by this property which is not allowed and will be revised.
However this come a little late for me, I hope someone for Hilton corporate takes not of this and learns some lessons from this whole episode as this is not the way to treat your most loyal and profitable clients.
I have since switched all my remaining Hilton reservations to Marriott and will not be returning.

Beautiful hotel shame about Reception Staff

I first visited this hotel last week as I was looking for somewhere to stay with my husband in Manchester whilst on business for one night. I asked the receptionist for some kind of tariff only to be told that they don`t have one. Then I asked how much it would cost for a double room and was told that there is no standard rate but only a demand figure ....sorry but I didn`t understand that. Then I said well for an example how much would a room cost for tonight and was told in a very sarcastic voice "well as I said it depends on demand". Then I asked "well can I have a look at a room" and the same snotty receptionist gave me a compliment slip and told me to ring this number and make a booking to have a visit round the Hotel. I was meeting people for a business lunch so whilst waiting I rang the number which was ridiculous as I was sat in the Hotel ringing the Hotel number. There was no answer. I went back to the receptionist to be told sorry everyone is busy.

I went into the bar and ordered from the menu a rare roast beef sandwich which was how it was described on the menu. A truly delightful waiter served us. His attitude was second to none, a really polished Guy. The sandwich came .........well done and toasted with chips, not at all how the menu described it. This Hotel has left me so dispondent. They really need to retrain their terrible Reception Staff and learn some PR Manners as when one walks through the door of a luxury five star hotel, they don`t want to be greeted by unhelpful, unknowledgeable staff. Shame as this is an absolutely beautiful Hotel but the staff have put me off booking in even for one night.
