Staying at the Britannia Country Hotel was not a good experience for me. I arrived in heavy rain, was unable to find anywhere to park. It took 15 mins to check in. Room was good, but heating thermostat broken, reported but staff never did anything. It continued to churn out very hot air for the full 3 days I was there. I was not able to open the windows due to the constant noise from the coaches coming and going with airport transfers, just below my window. They continued all night, with shouts and noise from the people and the coach engines. Anyway sounds better than the disco experience have read about in other reviews! Still got little good sleep and I was away on business so needed to have full brain power during day. The fire alarm kept going off as well, but all staff ignored it, quite worrying. Also the lift was broken when I arrived and I had to carry my heavy luggage up to the 4th floor, there was no suggestion of help. The lift was still out of order 3 days later, so had to carry it all back down again in 2 trips. I saw people struggling with children and all their luggage up and down too. The food was very poor. Self service affair with ruined trays of food, and very little choice. The pizza restaurant was closed. No clean tables to sit at, and staff actually direct you to sit at dirty tables. I had room service the first night as very tired. When I came in the second night, my room had not been cleaned and the remains of my pizza were still there and all horrible. I walked all the way down to reception to complain and they said "no it won't be cleared, we don't service your room until you leave" So I had to try and wash my cup up in the bathroom sink so I could have a cup of tea, disgusting! I will not be going back! This is a busy, tired and disfunctional hotel, with staff past caring. If you want to enjoy your stay pay a little more and stay somewhere good.

We stayed at this "hotel"as part of "park and stay".On arrival they gave us a room and we then went out for a meal. When we got back there was a disco in pro directly below our room.At midnight the noise was awful and the windows were vibrating. We phoned reception and asked what time it fininished and they said 01:00 a.m.We asked if they could get the volume turned down and they said that they had already asked the D.J. but he wouldn't.At 01:00 a.m. the music stooped but the shouting and noise of people went on until 01:50.
We requested an early morning call at 07:00.They called us at 06:40.
At breakfast we met the people from the next room and the lady actually went to reception in her nightgown to ask for less volume. To no avail.
The bus on our return went at least 15 mins before the timetable time.We along with other people off our flight phoned the hotel and they said that the bus had already gone and that the next one was at 12:25.This bus didn't turn up and yet again we phoned the hotel. They said that we would have to wait until 01:25 as the driver was on his lunch break.Eventually after many phone calls the "hotel"agreed to let us get taxis and that they would reimburse us.Which they did.
This is service which no-one should be subject to and I would advise anyone to steer well clear of this pathetic excuse for a hotel.
Note to management. Why not put "park and stay" customers as far from the function room as possible or is that a bit too complicated for your very unhelpful staff?

Absolutely disgusting hotel. Arrived late. staff hardly spoke or understood English. We had prepaid for a meal but were told they didn't have a record of it. The room was freezing, no heating, smelt of damp, filthy. There was a single sheet lengthwise down a double bed. Overall a very unpleasant experience. APH who we booked with have conveniently lost the original e- mail I sent to complain.

We stayed here on our return from holiday after a mix up with our booking through holiday extras we were offered a room which we would have to pay for again. Staff at night not very helpful. Once we were given a room at 02.30 the room was very smelly & cold. this hotel need to review its cleaning procedures. Would not recomend anyone to stay here and we will not use it again.

From the outside it looked wonderful, but once through the door its a different story. Staff are not very customer friendly, swipe cards did not work (3rd one did, just), room was old and shabby, mattress worst we have ever used even with both spare blankets used to sleep on!. We even had to take our own car to the airport parking "as it up to the hotels discression" we only booked the hotel as they said that a bus ran every 90 minutes to the airport. Meals were very expensive for what you got and waitress service was not good. Wasted money, we would have been better travelling overnight. Will NOT recommend this hotel to anybody.

This is possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Dirty room - smelling of smoke even though I had booked no smoking 9apparently "at their discretion"; staff who do not care or understand the meaning of customer service; graffiti on some of the walls; and having arrived at 20.30 I was still unsuccessfully simply trying to order room service 2 hours later to kept being told "we are busy". They seem to survive simply because they rely on 1 night only customers flying out of the airport.

We decided to start our holiday off to a nice relaxing start, by booking a park and stay with this Hotel. On our arrival it was obvious that the parking facilities where completely inadequate for the amount of cars parking at the hotel. At the check in we where told to park in the field on the right, as you enter the Hotel grounds. I informed the staff at the time that the field which was completely hidden from the hotel with trees and overgrowth was not a very secure parking area. Which I was informed that this is all that is available as we are very busy.
On our return from our holiday I found my car had been broken into through the passenger side window and rear windscreen, the open vehicle had been half heartedly covered with black bin liners, which failed to keep the rain out from the vehicle, so my vehicle was also now water logged. At this time I could also see a number of other vehicles had also been broken into within this field waiting to be claimed buy unexpected holiday makers on their return.
The hotel informed me that the offence took part sometime between the 6th June and the 8th June but the police where only informed on my return so any evidence after my two weeks away would have been washed away, I was also informed by the hotel that they held no responsibility for the loss of personal belongings or damage to my vehicle.
Was it not possible for the hotel to 1.Inform the police and 2. Place the vehicle under a car cove. Of couse the hotel showed the same level of care as previous NONE.

When I read some of the report about the hotel I thought I had made a mistake.
The only mistake I made was almost being influenced by a lot os proffesional moaners
The Hotel was clean and well staffed, the room excellent the food first class, and the transfers to and from the airport were right on the published time.
The car was safe, left in a protected car park, and I for one will recomend the hotel to my friends and aquantances. Thank you Britania, long may you reign.

I was waiting for the free bus from the airport, and tried to ring the hotel to see how often they ran, but nobody answered the 'phone.
When I eventually got there, there was a huge queue waiting at reception. I was given the key to room 13 (I'm not superstitious!) after about ten minutes wait, but was offered no help to carry my bags.
The room was freezing cold. I fiddled with the knob on the radiators to try and warm the place up, but it didn't seem to work. There was only one blanket on the bed under a thin bedspread. I found another blanket in the wardrobe, but still hardly slept as I was so cold.
The room wasn't very well decorated. flowery wallpaper with flowery curtains that didn't match the wallpaper, and a flowery bedspread that didn't match either!
And it wasn't clean. The television and table were thick with dust, there was a shopping list under the dressing table that the previous occupant had thrown down and hadn't cleared up, and there were hairs in the bath.
After a night, shivering, I went down to breakfast at 7.30, thinking that the food would be fresh, as I was quite early. The bacon was hard and overcooked, the tomatoes were tinned, and the continental breakfast just seemed to be cheese and a couple of types of meat very thickly sliced, and tinned grapefruit.
The red carpet looked as though it hadn't been vacuumed for a long time.
And it was March, and CHRISTMAS CAROLS were playing in the background!
I'd just come from India where hotels are pretty basic, and I'm not a fussy person, but I expect a reputable hotel to at least be clean and offer good service. now I see all the other bad reviews I realise that it's not just me, and I wish that I'd complained while I was there.
