Bad hotel

Don't be fooled by the nice looking (refurbished) reception area, this does not extend to the rest of the hotel. Also if you are a smoker despite the fact that their own website allows you to book a smoking room, the whole hotel is non-smoking as the owner doesn't like smoking. Avoid at all costs, better choices in the area at the same cost.

Very poor service - woken on both nights due to party being held downstairs, just below my room. Random persons card worked on my room as I found out when someone walked in at 2am - complained and the receptionist was not interested - wrote in and got no reply. Totally disinterested staff and uttelrly useless service. Never again - would recommened that you stay away

This was booked as we were flying out from Manchester early the next morning and the hotel was tied in with the parking.
We arrived about 8pm and were checked in fairly quickly. We went to our room with our cases. I would leave them in the car if Iwas you. The room was probably the smallest double I have ever encountered (not bad for somebody in the hotel industry). The bathroom was equally proportioned, ie crowded. Only for the fact we were not going to be there too long, we would have asked to move! You need to be lying in bed to watch the TV, as it is situated 6 foot from the floor (space saving), the vanity table is about 9inches deep, there was no way would could have ordered room service, as there is now where to eat it.
The staff in the bar are very good, as that is where we had something to eat, as the main restaurant was not in use, due to electrical work being carried out (at no point was I informed of this). Our intention was to arrive the night before to have a relaxing meal with a bottle of wine, this idea was quickly quashed! However the bar food was ok, the staff lifted the experience. But when you check in make sure you are asked about pre-authorising your "credit" card, as we were not and had a red stamp on our charge card, so when we wanted to charge food and drinks we were told we couldn't. This is procedure for the staff, but should have been told to us at check in.
I wouldn't have booked this hotel if I knew that the following morning it would take a 30 minute drive to find the car park, at which we drove past the airport for about 5 mile, only to have to come back. The hotel and parking facility being 6 miles opposite ends of the airport, a bit of a pain to have to go north, past the airport, then south past it again, only to have to turn around and go north, back to the airport!

We were fortunate to have 2 holidays between December 15 and January 31st. We travel to Manchester airport by train and stay overnight as near to the airport as possible. In December our accommodation was booked by the travel agents, and we were given to understand that the hotel was within walking distanceof both the airport railway station and Terminal 2. WRONG. A fifteen minute £16 taxi journey before we were there.

Our room, whilst relatively comfortable was on the 4th floor (by request), had it been on a lower floor I doubt very much if we would ever have managed to sleep. No complaints about the food, evening meal, and the, mainly Eastern European, staff were caring and courteous. Our journey to the airport the following morning was by hotel transport. Having been asked for our details, i.e. name, return date and terminal, we had expected to be collected by the same transport as our outward journey. Again we were totally wrong, arriving at approximately 9.30 in Terminal 2, we had need to ask the information desk for the number of the hotel, this was because there was no information on the collection points outside the terminal. Too late we realised that we had been given a transposition of the number and we had no alternative but to use a taxi again. Needless to say the cost was the same as the first one. Our complaint at the hotel was received somewhat laconically, no apology or offer of reimbursement. This time our accomodation was on the 2nd floor and the hotel entertainment was equally as noisy as it had been pre-Christmas. Not an experience I would wish to repeat. The one redeeming feature was the morning receptionist, a young man, by name Pietr, who sorted out our transport and ensured that it was complimentary, he deserves to be commended

Cant believe this still goes on..

Two nights booked purely business travel-girl alone-area unknown. Reception - unfriendly, surly - no eye contact - nothing.
Ok - room - mmm where to start. small double, dull, dank-lifeless. TV - only two channels available - heating not working, room service-steak was so bad - mustard had vinegar added !! chips were soggy with fat - just really bad-returned uneaten. bathroom - tiles cracked no spare tiolet rolls -cold. Used cups & spoons were not replaced or cleaned over the three days. The chair in the room was finally moved to corridor as I ran out of places to move it whilst pacing the room-please note that the corridor was less of a fire risk than being left in room - as I would of surely fallen over it as I tried to get out.
All the easten block staff (chamber maids etc) were charming - Hotel Management take note! remove the dead wood!

find somewhere else

I must admit it is some time since my wife and I stayed at the Cresta Court but if anyone is thinking of staying there then think again. The room was like a sub standard travel lodge. Then restaurant was expensive, mediocre quality and pretentious. On checking in,there were a number of staff were in the lobby but none offered to help with numerous cases ( going on holiday ). Car park was at bursting point. Overall it was diabolical, so I wrote a letter of complaint to the manager. Surprise, surprise, no acknowledgement. So I wrote to Best Western who said it was nothing to do with them as it is a privately run hotel and to write again to the hotel. So I did, and again it was ignored. I think that speaks volumes.

Not for Leisure

from supertruck97
Well, I stayed here for 2 weeks in June of '06. 1st off, if you are looking for luxury, look elsewhere. There are no A/C's in the rooms, and the location leaves a bit to be desired. The hotel staff was generally uninterested in the needs of their patrons (Case and Point, My room did not have an alarm clock. I requested one from the front desk, since I was on a business trip and needed to wake up on time. I was told that there were no extra alarm clocks and that they would not go searching rooms to find one that had one). The street is pretty noisy outside the hotel, thoguh there does not really seem to be much to do around the hotel. It's passable for a Altrincham hotel, but I would not recommend it for a leisure stay.

Avoid this hotel if at all possible.

My daughter and I booked a twin room, we even confirmed the reservation on day of arrival and gave our arrival time. At that stage we were asked if it was a twin we required - the response - yes. On arrival we were given a small double + FILTHY small Z bed and when we complained, were told this was normal hotel practice. Having been a hotelier for many years, not a practice I have ever been aware of. We also did not anticipate toe nail clippings from previous occupants on the floor. If you are flying from Manchester book somewhere else, anywhere else, especially on a Saturday evening with a Wedding in progress and no chance of any sleep.

Extreme Noise Potential - Beware

from amsuther
Like many hotels, the Cresta Court holds wedding functions during the weekends. Fair enough - and good fun for the revellers. Unfortunately, they don't warn you, the tourist, when you book, and they happily put you in rooms where the party noise sounds as if the DJ is in the bedroom with you. In my case, well into the wee hours of Sunday morning.

If you want to get some sleep (as many people do when going to hotels) - I suggest you stay elsewhere. Miserable, miserable, miserable.

Much better than I expected

from nickanddunc
The web site was easy to find as they have up to date information..some web site including trip advisor have the wrong details. Booked directly for a business room at £65.00 including breakfast. Room was smaller than a travelodge room but much better equipped. Bar downstairs was open showing the golf and the bar staff were young and friendly. hotel was hot and asked for a fan but they were all taken. Easy to find from the motorway and hopped on the Metro straight into manchester. Next day a fan was offered and accepted and guess what it started raining.
i use alot of Best western hotel many of which are country side offerings this is a business hotel first and foremost but they do offer the firiendly service expected. Try the black pudding starter in the restaurant ...simply great...would stay again.

Dont stay here if the temperature is above 25 degs!!!!

Arrived late at night with a baby, get to our room and no cot even though I had confirmed by phone the previous night that the cot would be there. This was the first issue, the second would have been where to put the cot, the standard double rooms are tiny (and bland). A quick complaint and we were moved (also away from the disco going on below us) to a bigger room and to the noise of the main road but better than listening to ABBA while trying to sleep!! Not that I could sleep, as we were in the middle of a heatwave and apart from the function rooms there doesn't seem to be any Air Con anywhere else ,especially in the rooms, it was the worse two nights sleep I've had in a long time, the room never dropped below 30degs (ok if you don't mind the heat), everyone complained about it as the corridors were baking as well.

Service from staff was non-existant even though we were there at a private function (probaly some poor people now above us complaining about the noise we were making!!!)

I don't think the hotel is that bothered as they probably rely on Airport stopovers and functions to make their money not repeat business.

I would never stay here again, I noticed a premier Travel Inn just down the road and having used Premier Inns before would go there, probably cheaper as well.

More car spaces needed

from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed only one night prior to a flight to Greece. On arrival at the hotel it took 20 minutes to find a car space it has a massive car park but it was full. Check in went smoothly the reception staff seemed indifferent, neither friendly or unfriendly. The rooms although very small were clean and warm. Breakfast was good and all the serving staff were efficient and friendly. Transport to and from the airport was punctual and friendly. The car park remained completley full and according to staff is like this all the time. Due to double parking by clients it was only the good driving of my husband that got us out of our car space without hitting any other car. We certainly feel we got value for money here but the hotel really has to address the parking problem.
