Underwhelming, but habitable for 1 night

Plus points; I could check-in at 12pm... the lady who dealt with us was quietly friendly and efficient. Cooked breakfast was nice in a pleasant dining room, but missing the essential mushrooms, beans and tomatoes. Room (ensuite) was clean and had tea-making stuff.

Minus points; My room was in a dark pretentiously decorated portacabin, not the main building, with charity shop furniture and a manky worn-out mattress which kept me awake all night, as did my insomniac neighbour chattering through the thin cardboard walls.

I paid £40/night.

This house has had a cheap and cheerful makeover. Website misleading.. gives the impression of a modernised and contemporary styled hotel. Rooms are cheaply redocorated, and furnishings same. The bed mattress was appalling.. just 4 inches thick! If you're looking for a warm welcome, value for money and any conversation when you arrive, look elsewhere. Breakfast was a surprise.. better than expected and plenty of it.
