This is a Hovel

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in, although the staff were friendly and the breakfast was good. The room was filthy, old and neglected, no maid service during my 2 day stay and bathroom dripping in mould. Sent 3 letters of complaint but they ignored every one so I gave up in the end.

This place is one the most disgusting places I have ever stayed in my life. There was an awful smell in the air, the bar girl had her stomache hanging out and the chef was drunk and fell off the bar stool. The breakfast was just vile cold and miserable and the bedroom was the most hideous and disgusting room I have ever seen. Please do not go there, you will be most dissapointed. Shocking.

Don’t believe the hotel description on the web

Booked three nights. Didn't stay one! When we arrived there was no warm Yorkshire welcome as stated on the web. In fact nothing at all was anything remotely like the pictures or claims on the web site. We had to find our own way to the public bar for check in as no recepton, NO lot 15 restaurant, NO oak bars. It is not a coaching inn at all. It Is a public loud drunken bar. (and that was at three in the afternoon) Dont go there. We were offered this hotel through the time out leisure breaks so beware.

Old and Dated

The hotel looked lovely from the outside, but very different on the inside. The decor was very dated and needed a bit of modernising, one good point the bedding and towels were clean. However, we would not return here and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone else.

A Lovely Weekend

Nice room with plenty of features including a good bed. Staff were excellent and the breakfast first class. Evening meal well cooked. Free music both nights and plenty of control from the staff of locals. If you want a nice budget weekend with good access to north Yorkshire stay here. Left very happy with stay

Cant believe I stayed there

Booked a weekend deal, stayed only one night and couldn't bear to eat a meal in there. No reception, checked in at the bar which was open to anyone, the chef was serving beer in kitchen whites. The room was shabby and tired the bathroom was hideous. There was a strong smell of paint but apparently the floor had been stained weeks previous, not welcoming at all from out side. There was no resturant, the evening meal would have been served in the public bar surrounded by formula one memorabilia. The sheets and towels were clean and the bed was comfy. When we returned to the hotel after we had been out for a meal there was a karoeke in the bar by this time we were passed caring and we were about to take part in the singing we asked and we were told by the kareoke man that he had ordered a pizza. The was closed and that was it no special treatment for guests. Do not go there.

Nice staff, worn and cheap fittings

The bed was easily the most dissapointing aspect of our stay and none of us had good nights sleep during our 3 nights. Good english breakfast, and pleasant, helpful staff although some of the pub customers were allowed to get drunker than hotel guests may have wished.

Lumpy, awful bed

The meal on the first night was indifferent - the lamb was tough and the vegetable portion meagre. It was very poor value at £19.50 a head. The bar was not open so we were unable to have a drink. But worse of all was the mattress on the bed which was so lumpy. We had to put the quilted bed cover under us to get any sleep. We complained and they moved us to a better room. The staff were fine but there were obvious staff shortages as the main bar was closed all the time we were there. I would not go back !!!
