This small 3 star hotel is set in beautiful grounds, surrounded by rolling countryside. It has a very relaxing feel, with its log fires and comfy sofas. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. The rooms are spacious, nicely decorated and equipped to a high standard. Ours even had a jacuzzi bath tub!

One big surprise was the food. Just £25 for a 3 course dinner that was absolutely superb. Not only was it beautifully presented, it also tasted fantastic. They also have a wide range of good quality wines to compliment the food, grow a range of fruit, vegetables and herbs on site and use local, ethical suppliers for their meat and fish. They have recently been awarded an AA Rosette for Food Excellence and I dont think it will be long before they get another one! I will definitely be returning in the future and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.

Historical Traveller Reviews of Trelaske Hotel and Restaurant

Marvellous service

from ProfessorKidney
Stayed at the hotel after viewing the reviews in Tripadvisor - glad we did!

We stayed with our 1 year old daughter for a few days and the crew at the hotel fell over themselves to help with our stay. I didnt want to disturb other diners in the restaurant (a 1 year old can be a tad boisterous!) so asked whether we could have some sort of room service. They did. Provided a table in our room and served the restaurant menu to us! Excellent.

Room had very good countryside view - dont let the aerial view from GoogleMap put you off. The hotel has 2 large caravan sites quite near, but they are well outside the hotel grounds and never in view (or earshot) from the hotel.

Would I go there again? Certainly would.......

Peaceful beautiful location - No1 status in Looe well deserved!

from ALTON16
Stayed at this lovely hotel in peaceful countryside. Stayed in the Annexe accommodation- which was spacious, modern, comfortable and a pleasant surprise. This hotel prides itself on its standard of service, food, accommodation and completely exceeds your expectations. Much of the food on the dinner menu is grown in the two poly tunnels they have on site, and they source most, if not all of their food, from local food sources/suppliers. Hazel was very accomodating, even providing an early breakfast to me as I needed to leave before they officially started breakfast service. I was staying there on business and felt very welcome and comfortable in this lovely hotel. It has been under the current ownership for 12 months, and they are consistenly striving to improve all areas- all credit to them that they have made it to No.1 for Looe in such a short time- very well deserved!

Wonderful hotel

We stayed at The Trelaske for one night en route to Falmouth. The hotel is set in beautiful landscaped grounds overlooking magnificent countryside. If its peace and tranquility you are looking for you will get it in bucket loads at The Trelaske. Our room was spacious and well presented with a terrace affording magnificent views. We would recommend dinner at The Trelaske. The menu is reasonably priced and the food and presentation fully warrants the Rosette Award. Breakfast was plentiful and Hazel and Ross are delightful hosts. An added bonus was the amount of private parking which is difficult to find in some hotels in this part of Cornwall.

Peaceful Getaway

from ABCBath
We found Trelaske to be set in a beautiful quiet location, ideal for exploring local coastal paths.

We were welcomed and made to feel at home. Our room, in the annex, was clean, light and had stunning views over the cornish countryside.

We were very impressed with the dinner menu and breakfast and found it extra special to find out food was all local and sourced within a 30 mile radius.

We will definitely recommend Trelaske to friends and colleagues alike and will return again in due course.

We wish Trelaske every success.

fabulous a place to reccomend to ones friends

from DottyNewbury
We were fortunate enough to spend an off peak weekend at Trelaske Hotel.
We were greeted warmly by the proprietors Hazel and Ross and by the homley roaring woodburners.
Our accomodation in a separate annex to the main Hotel, was spacious and comfortable overlooking beautiful Cornish countryside. Our two dogs were made as welcome as we ourselves.
We spent the weekend walking the cliffs between Polperro and Looe, with its breath taking rugged sceanery .This exercise was a partiularly pleasant way of digesting the generous selection on offer each morning for breakfast.
I feel the locally sourced sausages that Ross cooked us each morning deserve a special mention. I would recommend a visit to all my friends.

Fabulous in all respects

from Voyager2005
Gorgeous views, exceptional food and wonderfully welcoming - what more could you want?

I stayed at Trelaske hotel in March 2008 with my partner, my parents and our dog, and we had a fabulous time. We stayed in 2 rooms in a separate building from the main hotel - these rooms were more like mini-apartments than rooms! Both huge rooms with double aspect windows, sofa, ensuite bathrooms each and tea / coffee making facilities in the room. The hotel had even provided the dog with a small water station with a mat and 3 treats waiting!

We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food really is amazing. All locally sourced.

If you want a quiet hotel with 5* service and amazing food, this is the place for you!

The Perfect Cornish Gem!

from Ashley064
As people who regularly enjoy the experience of a ‘weekend away’, we cannot sing the praises of the Trelaske Hotel and its proprietors enough. Following a warm and friendly welcome we were instantly swathed in the relaxing ambience of this very special place.

We were shown to our extremely spacious room which was beautifully furnished & spotlessly clean – there was even enough space for a comfy sofa. Patio doors lead out onto a balcony which, as we discovered the following morning, had magnificent panoramic views across the rural Cornish countryside. It truly was a ‘Room with a View!’

Breakfast was beautifully presented and included locally produced bacon and sausages both of which had outstanding flavours and were complimented by new laid eggs (free range of course!). Even the muesli was homemade to the Chef –Proprietor’s own secret recipe!

The ethos of seasonal, high quality & locally produced food that is so paramount to the proprietor’s beliefs are reflected through the creative dinner menu. With so many inspirational items on the menu, it was difficult to decide what to choose, however, the smoked haddock fishcake, with a wonderful home-made tartare sauce was really scrumptious, made even more appertising with the knowledge that all the fish is supplied fresh from Looe harbour, only 3 miles away! The extensive menu is also complimented by a selection of fine wines and the comprehensive wine list offers the diner a chance to experience something a little different. After eating such a gastronomic meal, we retired to one of the cosy lounges and relaxed with a ‘night-cap’ in front of the blazing log fire. In only a few months, the new proprietors have been awarded the coveted AA rosette for their restaurant and following our dining experience it is easy to appreciate why!

We were sorry that we couldn’t stay longer and that the weekend had come to an end. We will however be making a return trip for a week-long holiday in a couple of months time. The hotel is perfectly located for exploring the riches that Cornwall and South Devon have to offer. With such peaceful and tranquil surroundings, together with the excellent standard of service and comfort, visitors cannot fail to want to return for further visits throughout the year!

Trelaske Hotel........ What a Fantastic Place

from Welchey1
As I say, What a fantastic hotel.
I wanted to stay at a peaceful hotel where I could relax for a well deserved break. This was the perfect place. Not too far from Looe, but set far enough in the country to enjoy the beautiful countrysde and its peaceful surroundings.
I found the staff very friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. The room I stayed in was very comfortable and spacious with a wonderful view. Very peaceful too.
The main lounge area would always have the fire burning in the evening making the whole experience really cosy, and friendly. I don't always feel comfortable sitting in a Hotel lounge, but here it was different.
The food was lovely, compliments to the Chef. I decided to stay in for dinner on one of the nights to sample the dinner menu, would highly recommend people to do the same as I couldn't fault the food, very enjoyable.
Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Tranquil garden hotel!

from climber123
We found the Trelaske Hotel at the very last minute, simply by spotting their sign and driving in, looking for accommodation that night. It was indeed a lucky find! Our garden room was really delightful, with a sofa area and a huge bath. It also had the enormous benefit of patio doors onto its own patio, leading onto a very beautiful and extensive garden area. We were welcomed with coffee and biscuits served on our patio as soon as we had settled in, and then we enjoyed a drink and explored the gardens that evening. There are four rooms in the hotel and four in the garden house. The views of the hills around are delightful and there are a number of areas inside the hotel where we could sit and relax. The setting is very peaceful and the food (we just had the breakfast, in their lovely dining room, with fantastic countryside views) was good. Hazel and Ross have only been open for a few months, but we are sure that their hotel will soon have a waiting list of people who want to book it for weddings, as the setting is ideal. We sadly had only one night to spare to stay at Trelaske, and no time to sample their tempting-looking evening menu, but we would certainly recommend the hotel, and we look forward to spending a break there again one day.
