I was told it was going to be very nice if I went for the 55 pounds a night upgrade. I was led on to believe that it would be as nice as the Regency Club Floor of Hyatt by this person who was a very smooth-talking staff behind the reception desk.
None of the things she had promised happened, and it added extra stress because of this feeling of not getting what I was promised.
If you assume it's a cheap, two-star hotel, it is a pretty good hotel.
Many core staff (I am not talking about the cleaning people. They were actually very decent and friendly) did not seem to understand English, or pretended they did not understand English when there was a problem.

This is a deceptive hotel that is rated four stars that should be a two. The customer service was appaling given that my room was broken into and my laptop stolen . There was no contact from the GM or guest services . The attitude of the personel was that this happens all the time which is why I should have travel insurance. Forget leaving anything that cannot fit in your safe at the fron desk they will not take it. I also found out that other rooms where broken into. Will not stay here again as the furnishings are falling apart and there is no service for the customer.

Our family, two adults, two children aged 12 & 14, stayed at this hotel september 23rd for 3nights and enjoyed it thoroughly. The breakfast was superb as was the quad room that we had been allocated, room 645. We were two minutes walk from Marble Arch Tube and Marble Arch itself. The staff we found very polite and helpful. We were in London to see the sites and were minutes away from all of the main tourist attractions. We paid £90 per night for the quad room, 2 adults and two singles. The room was lovely and was a treat to see for my 40th birthday surprise. The room was cleaned every day and there were two tvs, bathroom with surrond sound from tv or radio, hairdryer, iron & ironing board, all the cosmetics, fridge, kettle with tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc. Would love to return for another long weekend. Fabulous.

I stayed at this location in June of 2005 for almost 2 weeks. I found it no where near the quality of a 4 star hotel. The staff was deceptive and downright rude when questioned about what was included in the "specials". I spent much more than I should have for services like Internet. They provided only minimal information (apparently unless you wanted something they sold or got a cut of). When I complained about the charges they adjusted my bill - slightly - but after doing my expense report I see they made up for it elsewhere anyway. I had to leave for 3 nights to travel elsewhere and when I returned (for one night) the room they "saved" for me must of been their favorite room for "problem customers" it was in very poor condition. The Remote control didn't work, 1/2 of the lights in the room didn't work the chairs had stains on them and the arms were threadbare. After spending more than $3000.00 dollars at this hotel I would of expected more. I can't comment on other Thistle......
