Traditional and Excellent
from A TripAdvisor MemberDisappointing experience
from A TripAdvisor MemberDisturbed by the guests next to our room due to poorly soundproved wall, we didn't sleep well as they watched TV until midnight and set their TV timer to wake up at 5:45am! Although we asked them to turn down the volume, we could still hear their TV distinctly.
At the checkout, the cashier charged my credit card directly in USD instead of Pound using the hotel exchange rate (3% higher than the bank rate) without notifying me in advance. I noticed it afterwards on my way to the airport but it was too late.
Their English breakfast is not worth spending your money. It only offers very limited variety of food.
For the price I paid, I won't stay there again.
Convenient location
from A TripAdvisor MemberSave for one charming and helpful desk person, most staff were not particularly welcoming. It might have been the effect of the holidays and associated increased visitor volume.
The hotel is quite adequate but nothing to rave about.
Found Our London Home!
from A TripAdvisor MemberBut the beds were good, armoire, tea cabinet, luggage rack, desk with chair, in room safe, table with two chairs and a sofa! Plenty of light which is unusual in English hotels and B&B's. Bathroom had terry robes, usual amenities, marble floors and a Jacuzzi. Public rooms are nice and the staff is very friendly and anxious to serve. Amazing full English breakfast. Ambience is a little shabby around the edges (which we liked) but the brass was polished brightly and we felt warm and welcomed. And, did I mention, they have non-smoking floors! No real view because we asked for a very quiet room, but the windows opened.
Can't wait to go back!
Everything it advertised

from yunnersJust perfect, and good value too
from VirginiaKThe room was a decent size, the bathroom very fresh and up-to-date; we loved the location right near the V & A & the South Kensington tube station. I was delighted with the availability of the heatlh club and spa in the building, and had a wonderful and restorative massage that improved my whole experience of London.
The breakfast room is large and bright, the breakfast a standard English breakfast (hot, plentiful, with the usual weird sausages & nice grilled tomatoes, and imitaiton coffe) -- we were very happy with it, and with its being included in the price. There is also a lovely lounge in the lobby, with lots of sofas and a fireplace, which we liked for a nightcap.
We booked through hotel-assist for L139 in a fairly busy week in London.
Staff is wonderful

Duck Tours The duck tours is a bus that also travels in water along the Thames. This is a great way to do some sight seeing and the tour guide is really funny and makes it really interesting! Make sure you book this before going as it's very popular! I booked over the intetrnet. This was the best part of the trip and would do it again!
London Go somewhere else in the UK or only go for 3 days max. There are other places you know!
do not miss war cabinet rooms and Greenwich two absolute must-sees are the war cabinet rooms/Churchill museum, where Churchill ran the government below-ground during WWII. You walk through the tiny, fully preserved warren of rooms with the actual phones and encrypting machines, maps, tables, chairs and furnishings in use at the time. It truly brought history to life, and all our kids would love this (from teenager to kindergartner)! Also, take the easy tube/Light rail trip to Greenwich and wander the beautiful park, visit the royal observatory and stand on the prime meridian. Naval museum is designed for navy buffs and kids, and is surrounded with plenty of great space for running around and kicking a soccer ball.
