Loverly Hotel and staff

Used the Hotel for one night for a trip to Buckingham Palace Garden Party. Very kind staff allowed us access to our room early to allow me and my wife to change into Royal Garden Party attire. Very charming character for a old traditional London Hotel. Yes it is looking a bit tired around the edges but this is a very clean hotel and it all adds to the charm. The room noise (341) was very quiet; I was a bit disappointed as I wanted to listen to the railway station! Individual room air conditioning allows guests to chose their own room air temp. Used the hotel for both breakfast and evening meal. The service and the food were superb. Yes I will be using the Hotel again and will recommend it to anyone requiring easy access to centre London.

We stayed two days at the Thistle Victoria on a layover between Malaga and San Francisco. The hotel has grand bones and an impressive lobby, but that is where any illusion of grandeur ends. Once past the lobby, the hallways and rooms are tired and faded. Reception was snotty and uppity, the staff was useless when we needed help getting out bags up or down to the street level (no elevators to the street level). When I asked how much it cost to hook up to the internet in our room, I was told that the cost was £15/24 hours, which is way beyond reasonable. Worst of all was our bed. The mattress was thin and aged; just turning over, we bumped on wood underneath. When I complained, I was told that the room was scheduled to be refurbished. That is no excuse not to keep the mattresses up-to-date. We got a terrific rate when compared to others who have rated this hotel, but that is no excuse for all the discomfort and poor attitude of the staff. Next time, we'll pick another...... Read more

Room was filthy and needed decorating, bed needed replacing 4 star, not likely. Seats in bar ripped with foam hanging out.

Luxurious, Quiet and very pretty

The only suggestion we could make would be more air circulation. We were there in April 2004 and being accustomed to air-conditioning in the U.S. would have liked to at least have been able to open a window or turn on a fan. We were only there one night... had previously stayed elsewhere in London.... but much preferred your hotel. If the opportunity arises again, we will select Thistle.
