Hotel was clean at least, rooms were basic and the bed covers had some stains and cigarette burns on them. LOADS of stairs that arent too easy with a suitcase! We were unable to have breakfast due to the fact the dining room was always full. The staff werent too great either. Went to the bar on Saturday night and waited 10 mins for the lady to get off her 'personal phone call' and when i say bar i mean an area with 4 bar stools and a fridge! sunday we left our luggage to go shopping and was abruptly told to pay before we left for our day of shopping. When we returned we had some rearranging to do with our cases which we were told we could do in the area we had left them in. We started to rearrange when a male member of staff told us we would have to move into the room next door. I asked him for 2 minutes and he then stood and watched us like a hawk timing us! when 2 minutes were up he gleefully told us so... uhm what are we meant to do with 2 SMALL cases open? Move them to the next room and start over or finish up quickly? He then conveniently disappears when we finish to leave 3 females to lug the cases down all the damn stairs. English gentlemen? I don't think so! The side street is also a bustle of life into the small hours and very noisy! Would be intimidating to many!
Great staff

Ok its basic, but honestly I have never had a more friendly welcome, staff who would go out of their way to help you no matter what time of day or night. I am returning again this October and cannot wait to meet the friendly faces and great service. Its clean, convenient to everything in central london and not pretentious. I for one look forward to every stay there.

This place is a flea pit. I wish I had read the first review before booking.

Royal Adelphi Hotel, Single Room with en suite £70 per night including Continental Breakfast. 15th December 2006. London, Charring Cross. I stayed at the Royal Adelphi Hotel on Friday 15th December as I was out in London for my Christmas Office Party and didn't want to have to get the last train home. I was so disappointed with this hotel, it was depressing, dingy, dirty and the rooms where ridiculously small. I hated it so much that I checked out at 6.15am and skipped breakfast because the environment was so depressing. I have stayed in hostels in the red light district of Amsterdam that where nicer. This is by far the worst hotel I have ever had the misfortune of staying in and I will be telling everyone I know just that. I can't believe you charge £70 a night for this hole !!!!! The location is fantastic as you're next to everything you could possibly need in London but it's not worth it.

I wouldn't recommend it as a 'holiday hotel' at all but its perfect for people like us to crash for the night and be close to everything we need for a brilliant night out!
We over slept and passed the check out time and they were absoltely fine with it, staff aren't exactly thrilled to be there but they were polite and the hotel was generally clean!
Although, we paid £70 for the night and it is a LITTLE expensive for what it is but I would have no troubles staying there again.
