Oh God! We came too the MOST dirtiest hotel I've ever been to!!! And the guys who worked there called us at night in the hotel-rom, something that's a very very very creepy thing to do!!!!!!!!! Altough we told the man who called us, that that was an awful thing to do, he did the same next night.
We complained the first night, because the room was sp dirty and so hot that we couldn't be there. The next day we got a room that was ice-cold. The window was broken and they wouldn't give us a new room. So I came home from the trip sick! You only get a tiny, disgusting and nasty blanket that's supposed to keep you warm. And the english breafkast???? IIIIIIIU!!! NOT AN ENGLISH BREAKFAST!! A very unhygienic experience. And it tasted so bad I couldn't eat it... Ice cold food loaded with fat and we had to pay £6 for it!!! I WILL NEVER EVER COME BACK TO THIS HOTEL!!!!

The hotel is quite dirty and the staff is NOT serviceminded at all!!!!!!!!!
But the location is nice, but the rooms are VERY SMALL. Personally I would not reccomend this hotel even though my stay there was ok enough.

Stayed with my daughter for four nights in two single rooms (58 UKL/night/room). The most rotten building on Pembridge Square in a really nice Notting Hill surrounding. Dirty everywhere, sticky as well. Rooms in the cellar, almost all furniture broken and amateurish repaired. Staff is unfriendly, lazy, insolent and incompetent. Once waited half an hour for key as receptionist was absent with "back soon"-slip on the desk. If you cannot afford higher category then better stay in Formule1 or EasyHotel. But avoid this house. ++++

Hyde Park West Hotel is a dump but with just cause as the cost of a room £40 for one night is very cheap for its location within London. I do not recommend this hotel to families as you will not find it accomdating to any of your needs. I booked this hotel at the last minute and regret doing so as there are much better hotels which follow the underground lines further out from the centre of London, for around the same cost. The very few hours we spent in the hotel was very uncomfortable due to the beds being infested with fleas. I would recommmend if you were staying in this hotel to get very drunk in and around the very nice Notting Hill pubs and upon returning to your room you will be under the impression it is Buckingham Palace!

Just wanted to say, the staff were very accomodating and pleasant to me indeed, really worked hard to make me feel at home. Also, the location is excellent, it is a fun neighborhood to be able to stay in at such a low price. The shops, the students, the three subway stops nearby, the park...it is a nice and convenient area. It is true that the hotel, which is a pretty historic building, is a bit run down, and the room I had was small with boring decor. But, it was an interesting building, lots of fancy flourishes in the architecture and in the lounge ecor; and I found that the room was clean, and the promised amenities were there.
If you tend to spend a lot of your time resting in your hotel on trips, this may not be the one to choose. But if you are energetic and tend to get out and see and do everything and just come back to the hotel to sleep, well, for the price they give you, and in such a convenient location, you can go to more museums or shop more.
I think that it is a real bargain in terms of price, considering the excellent location; if they refurbished it, you can bet you'd be paying a lot more.

There is no reason to stay in this place, it´s dirty, rude staff, small rooms, filthy beds, falling apart facade and stairs... list is endless.

I've been at HPWest on March 2004, for few days (luckily), everything was bad, from the outside stairs dirty and old, the hall old and bad maintenance, the staff wasn't friendly at all. I've booked a double room, and they hadn't one for the first night so we had to sleep in two different rooms (one at 1st floor and the other at 3rd floor). Rooms were so small and dirty, curtains were old, worn out.
So, if you go to London don't go to Hyde Park West!

The hotel was listed as Standard, three stars but did not reach this level. The building maintenance was bad (i.e. nail sticking out of the floor in bedroom, curtains were torn and windowsills flaking away). The elevator never did work, there was no way of turning off a radiator in the room until they were all turned off late at night, and it took several trips to the desk to get phone service, and messages were not forwarded to us.
Eventually, the Manager transferred us to another hotel which was better, but the Hyde Park should not be advertised as three stars, especially to patrons who pay in full in advance and then experience difficulty in getting a refund.
After our trip we sent a detailed complaint via our Travel Agent and never received a reply.
