Never Stay at this Hotel

I have now read many review sites, after staying at this poor Hotel. Many complaints echo my own. This Hotel has to be the poorest five Star Hotel in London. There is no grand lobby, in fact, you are stood in a small reception area similar to an office block. There are too few staff on lobby service. It is a chaotic mess on Sunday mornings. The staff themselves are pleasant, but not of the quality, that one would expect from a five Star Hotel, more about this later. The bar downstairs is very small and there is nowhere you can meet anyone without sitting in the bar. It lacks everything you would want and expect from a five Star Hotel. The rooms we were given were classified as suites. These are not suites, as one would understand. They are a small bedroom, with a walk in room with a desk, which continues through to the bathroom. The room itself looked nice, but dig deeper and we found stained and dirty bed linen. I will try to upload a photo of this. The room was occupied by two people, yet there was only enough towels, soap and dressing gown for one. My friends stayed in a similar room and their room was set for one person, even though the Hotel knew three were staying in that room. The breakfast is almost laughable it is so bad. The coffee really is the cheapest you could ever drink. When I asked for a stronger coffee, I was told I would have to pay more! The toast cold, the cheese curled up and old. Jams limited to three flavours. It is a disgrace, for the price you pay. The pool is nice, but I asked the pool receptionist for a pair of slippers , as I had no other shoes I could wear to the pool. This request was just ignored. Due to a previous altercation with Grange Central Reservations who are nothing but rude and unhelpful, I had been assured by the manager that nothing else would go wrong. By the time we arrived, another manager had taken over this Hotel. Needless to say, there was a major problem, created by the Hotel itself. We were staying with guests from Italy, who had a three-year-old child. We were called via mobile, on the second day of our stay, whilst out in London to tell me that our guests would have to change rooms that night, due to the noise that would be generated by a wedding party and very loud disco. Why we could not have been given the correct room on the previous night, is beyond me. As compensation, the arrogant, rude and conceited manager offered our group a free meal. Low and behold, he offered us the meal they were serving the Wedding Guests. So in essence, the wedding party would be paying for a meal, for a fault created by the Hotel. Unbelievable, but it gets worse. This manager then lies to my friend several times, which then creates another argument, which then leads to another argument. In all my time, staying in top Hotels, I have never ever seen such a rude, arrogant self-serving manager, who did not have the ability to understand what he was doing. He was full of excuses, blaming everyone else, lying with an air of arrogance I have never seen before. This manager prefers to argue with customers than find solutions. On another note, if you are into wines, forget this Hotel. I asked for a Pinot Noir, they don't stock it, what about a Chianti? Simple you would think for a five star property, not this one...answer we don't stock it. There is a Sainsbury’s just across the road, might I suggest that if a guest wants a normal wine they slip out the back door and purchase it from the aforementioned supermarket. The noise from outside is unacceptable, and be warned you could still hear the wedding party on floor one on the fifth and sixth floor. I had reviews about this Hotel complaining about the unacceptable road noise at the front of the Hotel. I asked for rear rooms, but even with rear rooms, if you want peace and quiet to sleep, aviod this Hotel. This is not a five Star property, it is not even a good quality 4 star Hotel. This is in essence a three star Hotel, pretending to be a five star establishment. The manager is only good for one thing, a £25 per night motel. Would I ever stay in a Grange run Hotel again? The answer is very simple NO. There are many other great Hotels in London, so do yourself a favour and avoid the Grange and any Hotel run by the Grange group. The arrogance and apathy shown by the manager is reflected in the Head Office and managing director's responce to the complaint. Avoid is my best advice.
