Sharp practice
I booked two double rooms at the Excelsior hotel. On arrival was told that our rooms were in the sister Albion Hotel, around the corner. They claimed the mix up was due to a 'trainee'. Hotel staff totally unapologetic. Room in Albion had no electricity, was shown an alternative room in a third hotel which was dirty, curtains hanging off rail, carpet frayed. Finally had to settle for a single room in the Albion and then had to haggle for a discount! The hotel duty manager made it quite clear that I was interfering with her very busy day. The bathroom was tiny with an open shower in the middle so loo and sink ended up soaking wet. Would never stay here again and would not recommend anyone else do, they obviously accept a booking and then hope that the customer will accept whichever hotel/room they are given.
Room small, plain but clean. Location 2 mins Kings Cross. Breakfast arrangements TERRIBLE - you have to go to different hotel, down stairs into tiny canteen area (3 plastic tables & chairs)where people have to queue for breakfast, consisting of juice, cereal & toast. Would not book this hotel again because of this.
