Second time at this hotel

We booked through SuperBreaks as we find they do quite good London deals.

Ask for a high floor as the views are much better, even if you only get to see it while waiting for the lift!

Rooms modern, comfortable, quite small, bathroom clean-shower no bath, mini bar, AC,etc. Thick walls so quiet too.

Reception staff nice-we turned up early to leave our bags and we were delighted when we were offered the room as it was ready.

Breakfast quite nice, good choice of buffet however staff seem a little disorganised. You can also order from breakfast menu which I did but never got my boiled egg...but hey. Not really bothered as we were just glad to be away and relaxing.

Room service-great. Do the best chunky chips!

Location wise-probably over 5 mins to tube but quite a nice walk along Thames to Big Ben etc takes 10-15 minutes.

WOnderful Service!Sleek!Modern!

from azmove
Stayed here at the hotel March 19-24th with 10 fellow Realtors from Scottsdale. The only negative about the room was the lack of drawers, closets..but we were over that in a heartbeat..the room was big enough to hang a few things and keep our suitcases out for easy access! The concierge service was excellent, they were quick to respond to all our requests for taxi service, restaurant suggestions and anything else a traveler may require. Although we were on vacation, we did have a desire to check into our email, and they have a business suite available for their guest to use the computer at no charge! Down the block from the Tate Musuem which offers a Tate to Tate boat to see both the Tate and the Tate Modern. We were all from Arizona and it was cold and blustery...we weathered through the walk to the Pimlico or to the Westminster tube, although we broke down one night walking from the Westminster tube down the Thames, we were freezing and grabbed a cab for the 5 minute drive back! Not a bad walk, but it was cold!

We found a great little restaurant near the Pimlico tube entrance, The Gallery, great food, the salmon was terrific, the White Swan was also walking distance, but we past on it. The continental breakfast was complete with lox, bagels, rolls, cereals, cheeses, fruit and other meats. It was included in our package and had room service deliver it at no extra charge a few mornings when we wanted to relax a bit before heading out into the rain and cold weather. We were there through a weekend and took in the flea market in Nottinghill, Portabello Market, it was great..found wonderful fish and chips...and then a friendly warm pub to thaw out in after looking at all the antiques and goodies!

Hotel restaurant a bit pricey, with our weak dollar...but did eat there one night...and the bar was handy for the late cocktails before turning in!

Mama Mia has a fantastic cast...ate Italian at Topogigios..although there are many, many restaurants in the Theater district...

All and all the City Inn was a great place to stay... loved the robes, my husband loved the plasma TV..

We won the we did not check other hotels as far as rates...but we would stay there again.. the only inconvenience is that you are more in a business district...not the hustle and bustle area with tons of pubs, restaurants and shopping...but it was easy enough to get anywhere.

We added a day in Paris through Evan Evan Tours..this was a perfect vacation within a vacation. Leave at 5:30 am from Waterloo, arrive in Paris 3 hours and 19 minutes later, fully escorted tour 1/2 day includes bus tour of city, go to second floor of Eiffel tower, boat trip down the Siene and then 3-4 hours on your own...we went to the D'Orsey, and spent time with my friends Van Gogh, Monet, Manet, Cezzane..Degas etc..the Louve was also walking distance...back on the train and at our hotel by 11:00 for a night cap at the bar!!!

Any questions just email me....

Very Stylish!

My niece and I stayed in this hotel last February. It is very clean, modern, trendy and comfortable. Although their website mentions that it is child friendly, it has a very adult sophisticated atmosphere. Most of the guests were Business Travelers and European couples. I couldn't help feeling out of place at times. But my niece loved it nonetheless!
She went crazy for the flat screen tv with Dvd player (the hotel runs a movie rental svce) and the stereo/cd player included in the room.

The room we had was small but very nicely decorated. The bathroom was wonderful with a great power shower! Also a nice touch included with the mini bar was a small basket of travel items for sale. The mini London A to Z came in handy!

The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from the nearest train stations Pimlico and Westminster. But this was never a problem. It let us get to know the area very well. Also the Westminster train station was reasonably safe at night. We used it after seeing the Ceremony of the Keys.

We has a wonderful time at this Hotel. It is almost next door to the Tate Britain (a great small museum) that shouldn't be missed. I would definately stay here again

Excellent Hotel

We had a wonderful weekend at the City Inn. The accommodation was spotless and very modern with broadband internet access from your laptop. The fluffy robes in the bedroom were wonderfull! The staff were most welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was fantastic with all you could possible want and more. The restaurant was quite pricy but we found a very good chinese restaurant close by with all you could eat for ?7.50. Pimlico tube station is only a couple of minutes walk away so although the hotel is not in the centre of London you soon can be. We will definately be going again.

Bright and airy, friendly staff and smallish room (and even smaller bathroom) are compensated by the quality furnishings and decor. Would go back.

Bright,modern hotel

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this bright, modern hotel. Great welcome from the Concierge, anticipated problems with parking but no problem he will fit that car in somewhere! Need to pay the congestion charge, facility at concierge's desk. We booked 5 rooms and had a problem with 2 rooms not being available until 3 pm (website had said 8 am!) but great rooms, fantastic power showers, fluffy dressing gowns, enormous bath sheets, everything spotlessly clean. Great hi-fi - perfect for entertaining a crowd - as we did. Ice comes as standard on certain floors perfect for that G & T! Only disappointment was the English breakfast which could have been hotter! Style, ambience, comfort of hotel couldn't be faulted as was central position in the City. After service great as well. Can thoroughly recommend to all visitors, will be using this hotel again.

Good hotel

from Dottydenise
Just returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel. Very comfy beds, friendly staff, great breakfast, clean. Well located not too far from underground - just far enough to walk off breakfast. Rooms are rather small, with minimal storage space for clothes - could do with some more drawers. Don't leave partly used toiletries as they will be removed and not replaced! Mini bar quite expensive. However, DVD player and plasma TV are good. Great Chinese restaurant just 2 mins walk away - all you can eat for £7.50! Would probably use this hotel again.

Highly recommended

I stay here quite regularly on business and I would happily recommend it. Its very close to Westminster; its modern and well equipped. The staff are not intrusive, the rooms have everything you need (Iron, kettle, DVD & CD player). The beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms are nice. The room serice is great and not a rip off, same goes for the mini-bar. The breakfasts and resturant are also very good, though fairly expensive. The bar is very swish but a rip-off. Its a bit out of the way if you are on the tourist trail, though very close to Parliament, Lambeth Palace and Tate Britain. A bit of a trudge to the tube.

Modern, hi-tech, will come again for sure!

I stayed here during my first visit to London. I am more than pleased.
It has a great location, just minutes walk to Westminster Abbey, Kensington street and Tate Britian. Everyroom has flat LCD tv + dvd player + hi speed internet access. The rooms are small, but plenty for everything. The style is very modern, both outside, as well as the furnishings, it reminds me of IKEA :) I will be back here soon... and I would not hesitate to stay here again! It's also a great value I believe at 99 pounds.

The City Inn is a wonderful find!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at the City Inn Westminster for 6 blissful nights from Dec. 27 thru Jan. 2. The hotel staff is the most friendly and helpful group we encountered on our trip. Whether we were needing information on a place to dine or shop, or needing to rent a car or book a sightseeing trip, the staff helped make all the arrangements easily. They even made last minute reservations for New Year's Eve at a wonderful Italian restaurant in a beautiful area that satisfied both teens and adults. Tickets to theatre were no problem for the helpful staff either. Whatever our needs, they met them ..... Our 2 rooms were small but wonderfully comfortable. Our children had 2 twin beds and our queen bed was a treat from the norm in European hotels of double beds. The rooms are small, but very adequate. There is no dresser or drawers for your clothing, but if you use the small closet and coat hangers and cubbies wisely, you'll be fine. We were able to completely unpack and stash our suitcases by using the available space.... and I don't pack lightly!! The robes were a treat!! The Millbank Lounge upstairs was the most wonderful and comfortable refuge each day to sit and enjoy a glass of wine and a snack or bowl of soup. We found the food to be fantastic!! Although the Full English breakfast was included in our stay, we opted for the Continental because the variety and freshness of all it had to offer was more than satisfying. But, the food up in the Millbank Lounge is nothing short of perfect.............. try the soups!! I've read other reviews on Trip Advisor that sound a bit complainy about the location of the City Inn from a tube stop. NO PROBLEM!!! It's a lovely 5 minute walk just behind the Tate Museum to the Pimlico tube stop. We tubed all over all day and night and this walk was NEVER a problem. We had asked ahead to be in a room with a view of the Thames River if at all possible. We were rewarded with a splendid corner room with a beautiful view of the Thames and the street along the river. Our kids had a darling view of a lovely London suburb looking street and they loved it also. Being 10 floors up was a treat and they have the fastest elevators I've seen in Europe. (We also got to walk up those 10 floors after an early morning fire alarm on New Year's morning!! Not too bad.... and the staff rewarded the entire hotel guest list with brunch, dinner or bottles of wine to make up for the inconvenience!!.... This wouldn't have happened anywhere else!! The staff handled the fire alarm very responsibly and cared deeply for the inconvenience it caused their guests.... therefore, it was not a problem.... even after 10 floors of stairs!!) Naturally, cabs are always available also. All in all, its a perfect location and a perfect hotel to make your stay in London the best it can be. We will definately return to the City Inn Westminster the next time we're in London..... hopefully later this year!!Kathy & Michael Marvin

warm and contemporary

from UKDavidUK
A great hotel for the price. I found its contemporary style was complimented by warm and friendly staff. The room has all the boys toys, like CD and flat screen tv, plus robes and champagne flutes for a bit of pampering. The Full English was pricey at £20 a head, but cooked to perfection and set me up for the 10 minute walk to the Westminster Tube station.

Top Local Tips for London

Tesco Vouchers If you shop in tesco's change your money back vouchers into days out vouchers. They can be used on the London Dungeon, Original Tour Company etc. Great value.

Getting there The nearest tube station is still a 10 minute walk away. If you have luggage, take the tube to Liverpool Street or other main station, then taxi it!

Gatwick Express Buy your ticket online, then just get on the train and show your confirmation need to waste time by waiting in line to buy a ticket.
