The apartment was reminiscent of a 1970's bedsit. The overwhelming smell of damp on entering the apartments did not bode well and on entering the room the first thing I noticed was that the net curtains were held in place by a safety pin. The phone in the room was faulty in that you had to press certain numbers several times before they registered, which made telephone calls a time consuming and frustrating business. The former was rectified after a week, the latter was not rectified during my 2 week stay. All in all not conducive to a pleasant stay. The bare essential items of cutlery, plates, pan etc had all seen better days (in the 70s or possibly earlier?). Clearly the assumption is that you're not going to cook - only one very small pan is supplied, the one sharp knife is not sharp and indeed had several bits gouged out of the blade. However, for me the whole point was to have somewhere that I could cook. In such a tiny place with such poor utensils this proved impossible. The blurb states that there is a laundry facility close to the apartments, and indeed gives the impression that this might even be on site. This turns out to be a launderette which is 10 minutes walk away and which has now closed down - so basically they are claiming to provide a service which no longer exists. So, while I would definitely use Lastminute.com again, I can in no way recommend Astons Apartments - the only upside is the location.
