s on the money.

from Alison
For the money you really could'nt expect much more than what this hotel has to offer.
Stayed here in Oct 2005 with 3 friends and we were all pleasently suprised. The rooms were a decent size as were the bathrooms and both were clean and modern.
It's a no thrills hotel so there's no bar or restaurant, only vending machines.
There was quite a few groups of lads and lasses staying here (including us) and it seems to be more of a stag/hen/football weekend hotel as there was quite a bit of noise during the night.

I have to admit that I wouldn't stay at this hotel if I was looking for a romantic break with my partner and I wouldn't recommend it to my parents or married friends but if you're looking for a modern, clean, cheap place to put your head down for the night it's on the money.

Cheap and cheerful..

+ points =
Central location ( few mins walk to shopping precinct)
Cheap hotel (£26 for family room...booked in advance)
Clean hotel
Pleasant staff
Hotel Keycard needed to operate lifts (security measure)
Snacks and drinks available in main lobby
Good bar that does full english breakfast 10 secs walk from the hotel...

no on-site parking (though car park directy across the from 7.30pm to 7.30am. At 7.30am there was a queue of guests from the travelodge queing up to put money in the meter..some still in pyjamas...quite a funny sight)
Lovely view of the wall with limited sunlight..but hey, for £26 points we aint here for the views.
My sat-nav took me one street away from the postcode i entered for the travelodge address...(not a major issue)

Overall - Would recommend this hotel.

Mixed Feelings - 3 visits to date - standards slipping!

I have stayed at this hotel 3 first experience was with a group shortly after this hotel opened (its only 4/5 years old)...absolutely brilliant, very clean, friendly staff.
My second visit was 2 years later with my boyfriend for a match...similiar experience...however this is where my opinion has changed somewhat. We visited in September 2005, 2 couples, we recommended it based on prior knowledge. I booked both rooms directly. When we arrived we were allocated 2 smoking rooms, I had requested non-smoking rooms. Our room was particulary was as if a brawl had happened, big chunks out of the walls, a patched up door in the bathroom....nobody should have been put into that room...& the sheets were clearly new clean sheets but there were big black marks on them. We complained at reception & were given new sheets but no offer to have the bed made up for us! Cheeky! Found staff were not as helpful as previously perceived! Air on side of caution...otherwise great location! Pity the long awaited bar they have been building since forever is still not open!

Great location

Room was the standard Travelodge. Very clean and tidy- as ever. There is pay and display car park opposite- approx £1 an hour till 7pm, then free till about 8am (it is city centre afer all). Staff were very helpful and encouraged feedback on survey form. Hotel is only 5 mins from the Cavern area (which was buzzing and friendly till the early hours) . Builders started work (drilling) in adjoining building at about 7:45 am for a little while which woke me up (briefly)- I noted this on feedback form and got a call from the hotel a couple of later to say they would be taking this up with the builders. I paid full price (weekend) and would recommend it

THAT' S about all it has going for it.

Firstly, a devil to try to find it. and when eventually we had travelled around the one way system a few times and eventually found a park, we were told that we could only book in at around 5pm... Went for a drink and returned in due time.

It took us 35 minutes to check in. Girl on the desk was between slow and stop,!!!!!!!!! ,,

My friends had asked for a ground foor room ashe is slightly disabled.. They could not accomodate this despite having put this in the initial booking.

When we arrived at our room. we were met with a huge mountain of dirty linen right outside our door and close to the lift. and blocking the fire escape door.... ( My husband is in the fire service. He went downstairs to the solitary girl to complain... exlapined the hazards and requested it be moved forthwith. It took some time.

Also, re parking, it is free after 6 and before 7am... so in order to avoid the traffic warden, someone from our group had to to toss to see who would get up to change the meter....
No discount parking offered.. A right rip off.

Central is all that it has going for it.

Oh, an d be sure to bring your toiletries, shower gel etc... There was one skinny piece of soap and I had to search for it. Initially I thought it was a biscuit. !!!!
Hard beds and small room.

ok place to stay for 1 or 2 days

from margaret45
Arrived slightly earlier than check in time , but reception was friendly and
gave us 2 rooms. The rooms were very clean, bathrooms as well, bed very
comfortable, very quiet, never heard any noise at night.
Cant understand the very negative reviews , I have stayed here several times
and never encountered any of the problems they wrote about.
A bargain for 26 pounds if you can get saver rates. 5 minutes walk and
you are in the centre with shops, restaurants., and pubs.

s ok...

This place neither deserves 5 or 1 star. 3 stars is just right. I have stayed there many many times.

It's nothing fancy but I've always found it clean, tidy & comfortable.

Staff, sure they might appear uninterested but when you need help, they are good.

The fact that you can book a room for £26 for a double (as a single or shared) - well I think it's great. Even at £46 or £56 for a double shared it’s not bad value.

For my graduation we have booked a family room for 4 (3 adults & one kid) for £50 - that's great value for money imo.

The location of this place is great if you come in on train as it's a two minute walk. It's not far from shops & pubs either & about 15min to the Docks.

They have fixed up the downstairs area recently. It now sells sarnies, stuff you can microwave, coffee & even small wine bottles. Staff also has take-away menus if you fancy staying in.

Dirty, unconfortable and nothing was working right

from labelleg
Stayed there for 2 nights. My room was dirty, the hotel was dirty, the telephone did not work, the TV did not work properly, very dusty. The staff knew about the problems and they told me that the management doesn't care about the hotel.

The only good thing about the hotel was the location.

Typical travelodge

from alit
I stayed here for one night, found the hotel easily from Lime street station. On arrival my booking wasnt registering on the computer so they said they would keep my case as I wanted to go into town first. The hotel is across several roads from the world museum and art gallery - 5 minutes from town. Despite being on a main road i didnt hear road noise overnight.

Reception staff were friendly, helpful and chatty. There is no bar at this travelodge just snack foods and drinks. You have to use your keycard to use the lifts so it is secure. Continental breakfast trays available at £5 in your room, I never have these as vegan, plenty of cafes nearby for breakfast.

My room was on the fourth floor - a family room (i book these as usually a quieter area of the hotel) comfy bed, sofa and a good power shower, i found this a better sized room than recent visits to Bristol and London.

Its not in the greatest of locations (if i went again id go for the premier travel inn at the Albert docks - that looked great! but for £26 it suited me fine.

There was a £3 fee to leave my case on day of departure so i used the cloakroom at the opposite museum!

Horrible travelodge

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed in this hotel over the Grand National weekend and it is easily the worst Travelodge I have ever stayed in.

For a start it is not easy to find and when you do find it you are met by rude staff. The rooms are nothing more than average and the shower leaks all over the floor. If you want an iron & ironing board you have to go to reception and pay a deposit of £5 and that doesn't even guarantee you a decent ironing board - our was bent and wouldn't sit flat.

Never again would I stay in this hotel - in fact it has put me off ever staying in another Travelodge.

Top Local Tips for Liverpool

Get a Saveaway ticket if you are travelling by Train/Bus They sell them at the airport but you have to go looking for them! The bus into town costs £2 so the ticket largely pays for itself even before you reach the city centre

Hens and Stags If you belong to a Hen Party or Stag Party there is plenty for you around Matthew Street. If you are looking for a romantic night avoid this area like the plague on Friday and Saturday nights. Liverpool has plenty of other places to visit at night.

Handy cafe The cafe on the corner down from the Travelodge is well worth a visit. Good and friendly service.
