from A TripAdvisor MemberThe staff at reception were very friendly and helpful, the room was excellent - very spacious and clean.
The breakfast was very civilised with a huge amount of choices from Actimel to pastries and all the usual stuff in between. The waiting staff in the restaurant were attentive, friendly and helpful without being over the top.
With regards the £10 per night car parking, which I agree does seem a little bit shocking initially, I think is a reasonable amount to charge as the hotel is literally in the middle of the city so we didn't have to mess around getting a taxi to go out. My advice is to work out the nearest hotel to where you are needing to be for your stay and book there...the car parking/taxi booking is simply a case of swings and roundabouts - you gain one you lose another!
All in all a very comfortable stay - looking forward to returning.
Suprisingly Great!
from Holly29I stayed one night, the night before Ladies Day at the Grand National, so the hotel was fully booked. I arrived quite late, and yet they found the time to be really great to me on check in, and friendly, and told me that since I was one of the only people there on business they would upgrade me to an executive room! (for future reference, it is well worth booking an executive room - they are huge and stylish and mine had a balcony too).
Everyone went out of their way to be friendly and accommodating, everyone from room service to the man in the leisure centre to the lady who booked me a taxi the next morning, despite the fact that there were no taxis to be had in Liverpool that morning!
Everyone you could possibly want from a hotel really: a huge, comfortable bed, great breakfast (and I mean great, a massive choice of things) and a lovely leisure centre with gym, pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and - for the ladies - even hair straighteners in the changing rooms!
All in all, I had a great experience there and would definitely stay there again. Thanks Marriott!
Not bad at all!
from A TripAdvisor MemberGreat break!

from Susie_B83The location is perfect, right in the heart of the city. I would definitely stay here again
Just wonderful!
from johanna0425Not even close to a 4* hotel
from rlarragyThe city centre Marriot is ideally located beside the bus and train stations minutes from the shopping and nightlife Liverpool has to offer. Having said that once you walk around the city for a few minutes you realise how small the city is and that you could really stay anywhere and not have too far to walk (and I'm not a big walker). What annoyed me about this hotel was that I was going away for a birthday weekend with my boyfriend and had decided that we should treat ourselves with the 4* hotel. Many of the special features advertised were not in my room. The non-smoking room reeked of stale cigarette smoke and the bed was uncomfortable not to mention the duvet being one of those aggravating feather things where the feathers inevitably move to the bottom of the duvet and you're left halfway through the night having to get up and shake the feathers back up to the top. Our 'deluxe' room was smaller than rooms I've stayed in on other city breaks like the Travel lodges or Jury's Inns. The breakfast was the greatest rip-off on earth at £15 each - fantastic menu but mediocre fare once you got there. The fruit salad translated to grapefruit and prunes. The cooked breakfast was left out for hours and the scrambled eggs were definitely made from some kind of egg mix - think 'Smash' potato substitute -they were really awful and we're not fussy eaters. And as for the fresh crepes others have raved about - none this weekend as they were too busy.
I had read other reviews of the hotel before booking and had expected alot more - perhaps our experience had something to do with it being a busy match weekend and so close to Christmas but to be honest I think the best way to judge a hotel is on its standards when they are busy - you never know how busy a hotel is going to be until you get there.
All in all not what I'd expect from the Marriot reputation and I defintely would not stay there again.
Lovely hotel
from clarequiltyinitially was given a twin single (which we hadnt requested)but once we called the lobby we got transfered to a twin double!
The complimentary Breakfast was really nice-there is even someone cooking fresh crepes and waffles on request-it is the best hotel breakfast i've ever had
The leisure facilities are great-the pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi are regularly checked and were clean and luxurious and its all included in the price of the room
The staff were all friendly and helpful
the location is FABULOUS-v close to the shops, restaurants, pubs and Beatle attractions and we didnt hear any outside noise from the room despite being so central
I will definately be going back the next time I go to Liverpool
Wonderful Staff
from A TripAdvisor MemberWell-run and well-appointed hotel right in the heart of Liverpool. Recommended.
from Pete_FenelonPossible to land good rates on Priceline - I think I paid about £55 a night for a double there.
Top Local Tips for Liverpool
Albert Dock Don't bother going. Most of the shops have closed down due to high rents and there's not much else there apart from art galleries.
Llloyds Number One Cross the road by the bus stops, and there's a 'Lloyds Number One' bar under the St John's shopping precinct. Breakfasts are available for less than a fiver, and you get a marvellous insight into 'Planet Wetherspoon'.
airport bus the airport bus is so handy at Liverpool. It passes and stops at any hotel you need, if it is on the route. I also realised that although there was not actually a stop at my hotel, the bus station was just round the corner and the walk was 2 minutes. Check out if you can get taken closer than you think. Last time I was there I made the mistake of getting off and paying a taxi. I could have saved the fare. The same when getting back to the airport. The bus is every 20 minutes, really good service and nice drivers.
