The Train! We booked Rail tickets through Brit Rail and it was the best thing I've ever done. For $1000 you can travel first class anywhere in England, Scotland, and Wales for 15 different trips. So you can travel from Manchester to Scotland, which is normally a couple hundred pounds *like $500 CAD dollars* for one of your day passes. Really in 3/4 trips our ticket had more than paid for itself. It seems like a lot of money, but in the end it is worth it. Make sure to book BEFORE you go, since it is a deal for international travellers only. The trains never leave early, are sometimes a little delyaed, but nothing crazy, and booking first class was worth it especially on the long trips, anything over 2 hours. Free meals, snaks, drink, papers and much more room. But the trains are connected to the smallest cities to the big ones, so if you don't want the stress of driving and a chance to see the beautiful countryside I highly recommend the train!
