very good!
from A TripAdvisor MemberWorst hotel I have stayed at
from A TripAdvisor MemberDo not stay here. The hotel is very run down and the damp is taking over. I would, however, like to say, that the staff are wonderful and are doing their best in a terrible situation. However, the damp is pervasive and in fact in one of the rooms I occupied, it was so bad that I had trouble breathing and my eyes itched all day. I was moved to 4 different rooms before one was found which had minimum damp. The windows do not open (on in one case, shut); they are all frosted glass so you can not see the garbage outside; the beds are lumpy and the pillows worse; the walls are paper thin and the noise is constant; the bathrooms are beyond belief - there is mould growing on the showers which is about 1/2 inch thick....it gave me nighmares. Also, there are no elevators and many of the rooms are up 2 and 3 flights. The breakfast is reasonable but is served in a dark and dingy room. The hotel had a pool room and an TV room but they were so dirty and smelling that I could not bring myself to venture in. Furthermore, in spite of the fact that I wrote out a full and detailed complaint which I personally handed to the desk clerk, I have not heard from them - and it has been over a month. I travel all over the world (including third world countries) and I have never seen such neglect. Do not stay here it is appallingly terrible.
Reasonably good place
from gsnicholDefinitely overrated
from JustJaneBonnThe room was so small one of us had to sit on the bed if the other wanted to move around. Also, the bed (saggy mattress) was in the corner - and half in an alcove - so there were no bedside tables and no reading lights, and I had to climb over the foot end to get in.
The wardrobe was microscopic, and there was only minimal drawer space for non-hanging items. A few wall or door hooks would have made all the difference, but were sadly lacking. The same applied in the (carpeted) bathroom, which lacked shelving or hooks, especially at the shower end.
Back in the bedroom, there was a nasty patch of damp in the corner, with an armchair strategically placed to hide it. Oh yes, and the light in the bathroom could only be switched on if the bedroom light was on, annoying for night-time visits to the loo. I also found it inconvenient that the only mirror was the small one over the washbasin, but maybe that's really expecting too much.
The breakfast was o.k., but served in the basement, in a room that was stuffy and badly lit. Actually, the staff were very helpful and kind, but not surprisingly didn't seem terribly happy. We were quite surprised that they volunteered a 20 pound refund when we left at the end of our 3-night stay. We hadn't even complained, just asked if the room we'd had was typical for the hotel. In retrospect, though, it does indicate they knew things weren't up to standard.
We've stayed in some really grotty British hotels, and this was by no means the worst. But The Feathers is very overrated, and we'll definitely go somewhere else next time we visit Liverpool.
please do not stay here !!!
from beckyrebothe hotel is extremely over priced we have never felt so ripped off by a hotel stay plus having to £6.50 a night to park out car in hotel car park
it is badly in need of a huge re furb the carpets are threadbare in places ,bannisters very wobbly, our room carpet was very stained toilet, seat broke, large gap between the bath and shower door so the carpet was soaked each time you showered, curtains very drab and dingy goodness knows last time they were taken down and actually washed ! no remote for the tv,breakfast a joke ..1st morning we had to wait 15 mins in a smoke filled lounge due to their being no tables, the so called restaurant was like a transport cafe stuffy and only formica tables with no table clothes and the food was all cold bacon like leather eggs hard as rock nothing like the photo's in the feathers brochure !!
we asked twice for some heating to be switched in in our room..this was ignored
i have read most of the reviews of the feathers and they are nearly all very negative ..well what a surprise ..its the biggest over priced dump we have stayed in !!!!!!..but had a great weekend in the city despite this rip off of a so called hotel !
oh and to cap it all had to wait nearly half an hour to get out car out of the off car park(which you are ripped of with £6.50 a night ) due to staff memberv blockin us in..perhaps they were so engrossed in washing the curtains .. i think not
Worst Hotel in the UK!
from A TripAdvisor MemberOn arrival it quickly became clear that we were not going to enjoy our stay. The staff were impolite and couldn't even tell us where the Philharmonic Hall was. The room was shabby and dingey. The whole place was scruffy and I tried ringing a couple of other hotels from my mobile but they were full so we had to stay and make the best of it.
In the morning we had to wait half an hour for breakfast as the restaurant was full (too small for the number of bedrooms). The manager was abusive and insulting when I complained.
I have stayed in literally hundreds of hotels all over the world and this is without doubt one of the worst anywhere - certainly THE worst in Britain.
Only OK
from WendyPeterboroughUKAn uncomfortable night guaranteed!
from A TripAdvisor MemberRecommend you avoid
from mrwebb56The cramped room was shabby and damp. There was a large black damp patch and peeling wallpaper by the window. The carpets and upholstery of the chairs was threadbare. The underside of the toilet seat was split open. The bathroom paintwork was peeling. There was no kettle as advertised, and no instructions for the TV; the staff were unnecessarily sarcastic when we inquired about the kettle and TV, and were generally unhelpful throughout our stay. The cereal dishes in the breakfast room were poorly washed; a complaint elicited a new bowl but no apology. Complaints at the end of our stay also fell on deaf ears.
I therefore wrote to Mr Paul Feather, MD of the Feathers Group. He inspected the room in question, and replied in writing agreeing every aspect of my complaint, and offered me a discount next time I visited. I explained that I had no plans to revisit that part of the country in the foreseeable future, so he agreed to pay a part-refund. However, I received no refund, and he subsequently reneged on that agreement; but in the course of prolonged subsequent correspondence he refused to explain why he had changed his mind. I eventually suggested that these were the actions of a dishonourable man and a disreputable company - he has not refuted those suggestions.
My advice would be to steer well clear of any Feathers Hotel. In my experience the service and standards are poor, and the management has no concept of customer relations.
nice staff

Top Local Tips for Liverpool
food at Everyman Theatre in Liverpool great bistro food at the everyman theatre and very reasonably priced, highly recommended
What to do when you arrive, don't bother to check in, just move on and find somewhere better.
Drinking out in Liverpool You must be prepared to pay 2 pounds for a pint of beer. Also bare in mind that you need to get a drink and that nobody will get it for you (like a waiter etc.) First, you must visit the Cavern Pub at Matthew St. It's an absolute must... Then you can go to other pubs... I was in The Liverpool Pub, Grapes, Flanaggan's apple (great Irish music there) and many more (just can't remember them)... Oh and if you go to Anfield, YOU MUST GO TO THE ALBERT PUB!!! I recommend you to eat in a restaurant because the quality of fast foods (except maybe of McDonalds and KFC) is below average. Fish and chips (or chicken and chips) are absolutely disgusting.
