Good hotel for Liverpool Airportfrom 19katy80
The staff were friendly, the food was fine, expecially the extensive hot and cold buffet breakfast that was included in the room rate. The rate itself was much lower than we had been expecting. The rooms are spacious, clean and are nicely decorated. The bathroom had good cosmetics.
The hotel is not convenient for the city, but if I had an early morning flight out of Liverpool airport I would definately stay here again.

We were told our booking was not in the system and the hotel was minus 6 rooms (due to a wedding). We rang the tourist board from the hotel and they informed us they had confirmation of our booking and spoke directly with little boy who told them tough they werent giving us the room. The little boy told us he did not have it in the system and liverpool would be booked out due to the match. He was so unhelpful even the shuttle bus driver asked him to fit us in. He refused to help us, and walked away from the desk. Our priorty was to get to the match so we had to leave. Id love to know which other people were refused from the hotel that day so they could make up there minus 5 rooms after they turned us down with a clear booking made!
If you ever need to stay in Liverpool which is a great city to visit, stay in the CROWNE PLAZA, location excellent, staff amazing and rooms and food first class!
Good weekend Locationfrom discomike
The room was clean, the breakfast was good and the hotel staff very pleasant, efficient and helpful.
The hotel is the old airport terminal building (1930's style) but modernised; some short distance from the current airport, so no noise and not very full at the weekends.
Plenty of free car parking that feels safe, unlike some in Liverpool.
The hotel has a deal with the superb David Lloyd fitness centre next door, and everything is free, except for tennis.
Being located fifteen minutes by car from Liverpool Town Centre and less than 45 minutes from Chester, we found it to be an ideal tourist base for the weekend.
The wife says we will be returning there soon.
Very average.from Anonymous53
The room was spacious and the decor was in the style of the 1930's which was a nice touch. However, some of the fittings were a touch battered around the edges - as if they had been in contact with too many suitcases.
The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning worked efficiently. There was a dead light bulb in one of the bed-side lamps though..... We did find the television control was hard to adjust and the selection of channels pretty limited. The tray of tea and coffee was a nice touch though - not always found in hotels like these with their desire to have guests purchase from Room Service!
The bathroom was quite characterful and the toiletries were tasteful. The frosted glass in the windows gave off a sort of stark "snow glare" though - a bit of a strange sensation in August!
We were leaving early so decided to pass on breakfast but having cast an eye over the room service menu, we did feel it was very expensive and certainly not special enough to merit the high prices.
Since we were leaving our car in the hotel car park for two weeks - a good deal for a mere one night's stay - we required to use the courtesy shuttle-bus to the airport and the female member of staff who drove us there was very pleasant and chatty.
Overall, this was fine for one night but certainly not for a longer stay.
Fantasticfrom A TripAdvisor Member
and we could not find fault with anything. The hotel decor is very tastefully done in art deco style, the room we had was large, impeccably clean and very comfortable. The breakfast's were the best we've had at any hotel in the UK. The staff were very helpful and friendly and could not do enough for us. We have stayed at Hotels twice as expensive and even though they were ok, they don't come upto the standard we found at Liverpool South.
We will definatley stay here again.
What a nightmarefrom BabsGranadaSpain
At 11.20pm we ordered through room service 2 Chicken Tikka Masalas with nan bread to be delivered to our room at 12midnight, at 12.20 we received a call to say that they were busy and they would bring the meal very soon. At 12.35 we received the meal, after the porter had left we discovered that there was no Nan bread, I phoned the kitchen to be told that he did not think that there was any nan bread but he would check.
15 minutes and 2 phone calls later, we were offered garlic bread which we refused, garlic bread and curry at nearly one in the morning is not a good combination. We ate a now cold curry and my husband decided to see if there was any snacks in the mini bar as he was still hungry. To our dismay there was a half empty packet of biscuits obviosly left by a previous guest, not good houskeeping. In the morning there was another mistake causing me to miss a very important phonecall.
By this time we had been in the hotel less than 11 hours it was just one thing after the other. We complained to the manager and he appoligised and offered to give us a full credit, which we accepted.
We left the hotel and 2 days later through email the manager said he would give us a free night and meal instead. We live in Spain so this was of no use. We thanked him but said the best would be to just credit our credit card as he said he would.
It is now over 5 weeks since our stay in the Marriott South and we have received no comunication from the hotel or the group and no credit.
We will never stay in a Marriott Hotel again, We choose a 4 star hotel so we would have the comfort, quality and service that we paid for, mistakes happen but it is how they are dealt with that counts.
No complaints, has a lot of characterfrom A TripAdvisor Member
Certainly would come back, not many hotels where you open your curtains and find a plane parked there! Has a lot of character compared with the standard purpose built hotels everywhere else. A real talking point.
If you want a meal out while staying here, try the Chung Ku Restaurant down the road at Columbus Quay, the food and views of the Mersey are superb!
Top Local Tips for Liverpool
Going to the match? If going to Anfield and want to go to the Liverpool Superstore .......... go early as the queues are amile long! If its a 3pm k.o your better going into the Liverpool FC shop in town
Beatles Exhibition well worth a visit - took nearly three hours to complete. also, Maritime Museum is worth a visit - really interesting
Duck tour If you're in Liverpool for a couple of days do the Duck tour which leaves from the Albert Dock, very amusing and a good way to see which parts of the city you may want to explore more, plus you get a very different perspective from most city tours when you're in the water!!!
