I thought this place was a disaster! Such rude staff especially the two men. I couldn't believe what I saw from this hotel. My room was horrible, it smelled of cheese and really put me off! In the end, me and my family didn't end up staying there because of such the rude staff, it was terrible. One of the men in there gave me a filthy look for doing nothing at all. They should be ashamed of themselves.

The rooms were clean and good value for money, fortunately we were not put off by the carpark which was covered in broken bottles and the sticky carpets on the first 2 floors. Once you reached the hotel room level it was fine. Not the place to stay at on a Saturday night if you wanted to go to bed early - fortunately we didn't.

This place has gone to sh*t in the time of about 5 years. from hero to zero, the staff are awful and the beer is flat. This place used to be the hub for all of Leigh's young people, now its the armpit of the broadway, with house music, DJ night and topless thugs. Real shame!!

Shame - So much potential

I've grown up here and over the years I've watched the building decay. It's a shame I remember when the bar staff showed enthusiasm - now they just employ plebs who watch the clock hoping for their shift to end. It's funny that it owned by the same brewery who own the Peter Boat in old Leigh. Both have gone the same way. The staff/Managers are awful and the brewery never seems to show any interest. When will they be replaced with staff who don't appear to be extra's from Shameless?

A bargain

Rather large rooms by English standards. We thought the management and staff went out of there way to make us comfortable. A good place to stay for the price if you can get past the cigarette smoke (July 7th I think.) A good place to stay for the price.

This place is in desperate need of a makeover but is - on the whole - OK for the budget traveller. There's a real lack of hotel's in Leigh-on-sea which is a shame and the Grand is the only real option if you want to be near Broadway. The rooms are clean but basic and don't be put off by the look of things downstairs. The rooms are a lot better than first impressions but the ritz it is not. Leigh-on-sea is a great place though with plenty to do and so if you can turn a blind eye to it's shortcomings the Grand is a cheap and bearable place to stay.
