We had a most enjoyable stay here during the worst snowfall for 20 years! The hotel is under new ownership and the manager with his staff are all working exceedingly hard to bring the hotel up to a higher standard. They were polite and helpful at all times. We can especially recommend the excellent bistro style cuisine in the newly decorated restaurant. Hope to visit again.
Unbelievably Rude Manager & Staff!! Avoid at all costs!

Needed to use a hotel around J9 M25 for a quick business meeting, Hotel website states that it is "ideal for the visiting businessman". If that businessman likes no e-mail, poor food (coffee was undrinkable) then this is for you. However, this pales in comparison to the disgusting manner in which my colleagues and I were treated by the hotel manager. In a true Fawlty-esque way he accused us of using his facilities as an office for free, and asked us to leave. When we pointed out that we had eaten lunch, and that his website offers business facilities he then began a tirade into the fact that he had 70 people arriving and to get out because we hadn't spent enough money! Had it not been so infuriating I would have laughed, but this establishment is an absolute joke, ignore at your peril!

If u are driving in the dark, u may have a little difficulty locating this hotel. The exit is on the corner, u need to drive a little thru darkness so full beams required to help.
Hotel and reception looks plesant enough but sort of goes downhill after that.
Decor is not very modern nor is it a nice old type. Does really need redecorating.
Room was okay, comfortable bed but a very creaky bathroom floor, every step creaked.
In the morning, there was no hot water. The shower at one stage had no water coming out. This is due to the plumbing, it seems if more than one person uses a shower, then the suffering starts. I had a shower and shave in cold water.
TV is basic terrestrial BBC1,2,ITV and C4.

I personally wouldnt stay here again though I cant fault the pleasant and helpful staff.

The hotel just up the road is far better (prestoncross) which is where I will be staying now.

We had our wedding here and stayed the night along with many of our guests. I must say the day was absolutely brilliant and ran like clockwork. The staff and manager during the day really helped the day run smoothly. The food (we had a cold meat buffet) was fantastic so we cannot fault them at all for that. In the evening there was a little bit of a problem in that they did not have enough bar staff so people were waiting a long time for a drink but all in all it was a great venue for a wedding.

However I would not recommend anyone staying there. The 'bridal suite' although clean had the most horrendous decor you have ever seen in your life and certainly did not help my hangover when I awoke to an explosion of chintzy, flowery, madness. But then I suppose the decor of the room is down to personal taste. However the attitude of the staff in the morning most certainly was not (unless your preference is rudeness). Our original plan, as so many guests had stayed, was to maybe all have a big lunch together at the hotel but on making our way down to the garden we discovered that they had not bothered to tidy up any of the empty bottles or overflowing ashtrays from the previous night. The breakfast in the small dining room was very nice but it was lucky not everyone came down at the same time. Everybody was also gasping for something to drink after breakfast (soft drinks I hasten to add - lest you think we are a bunch of alcholics) but the staff were not very forthcoming. The previous day we were told the bar opened at 11am for soft drinks and asking at reception we were told the same was true but upon trying to get an orange juice at 11am we were told by the stony faced barman that it did not open until midday (and got the distinct impression that he was lying as he was busy tidying up and did not want to serve us). As a few of our guests had gone for a walk or still preparing for check out we decided to hang around and at midday finally managed to get a drink from the extremeley reluctant and rude barman. But did not hang about for long after that as it was clear we were not welcome now that they had the money for our 'big day'.

One of our guests (who has a small child) complained to the manager as she could not get the hot water to work in her room. He basically called her a liar and then told her she was stupid as she did not realise that she had to run the hot tap in the sink for 20 seconds so that the hot water in the bath would kick in (like you would)!

We did not stick around much after that and ended up in a much nicer place for lunch!

All in all the attitude of the staff the next day was appalling. But we did have a brilliant wedding. So if you are planning on getting married here by all means do - just don't stay the night!

When we arrived at the Hostel! We were greeted by an exceptionally rude receptionist, who checked us in and directed us to our hotel room. I was discustingly surprised at the state of the bathroom, which had green lino floor, cigarette burns on the toilet seat and a shower (if you can call it that) that dribbled water, which I might add was cold. If you are looking for a quiet weekend away, avoid going there....the floor boards above our room creaked really loudly and we had an adjoining door which was locked by a small latch - hardly secure in my view - when they had their television turned on, it was as though we were sitting in the same room! I was not impressed one bit with the hotel, and to finish it off when we arrived the next morning for breakfast we had to wait as there wasn't sufficient tables for the number of guests! When we complained to the Manager (also the Owner!) it was like talking to a brick wall. Don't waste your money here.
