Great Service Area & Staff

I recently stayed at the Angel Hotel, the room I was allocated was freshly painted, clean and reasonably spacious. The staff were very pleasant and helpful especially as we kept asking for directions to places. There is an excellent night porter service with a nice quiet bar so all in all great for a weekend break for mature adults. Leamington Spa is also quite an impressive cosmopolitan place with a very well resourced shopping area. Would definitely recommend the hotel and the area.

What a great hotel

I recently stayed at the Angel hotel as a representative of one of the world’s biggest IT brands, along with 11 colleagues from my company. As these were very senior people they have clearly stayed in some top hotels, and yet their feedback from the Angel was that it was amongst the best experiences they have had in terms of friendly service, quality of hotel and general experience. We now book several rooms a week for our top people. The last reviewer clearly has a personal grudge against the Angel for some reason (I also doubt his insistence that he is a senior professional, as in my experience that would normally require some proficiency in spelling and grammar) but I wouldn’t let it put your off the hotel as you probably won’t find better in Leamington or the surrounding area. We arrived to find a well sized car park in the centre of one of Leamington’s most vibrant and smartest areas (Regent Street is hardly derelict!) it houses some of the town’s most premium businesses, and were checked into our rooms before going for the drinks in the newly refurbished bar. Everyone was really friendly and the stay was finished off by a great English breakfast – the staff really couldn’t do enough for us. We walked to some nearby bars later in the evening and I can only think that the last comments are about a completely different place – Leamington is one of the most prosperous and upmarket destinations in the country and this hotel is in arguably the most expensive area!

Angel Hotel, Leamington Spa Avoid At All Costs!

Angel Hotel, Leamington Spa Avoid At All Costs! My collegues and I who are lawyers stayed at this hotel for a 50th Birthday party. The hotel is apparently rated a 3 star by the AA and RAC and a 4 star by the English Tourist Board. The first issue I had was with the men's toilets that smelled strongly of ammonia and urine. No sign of air freshners or hand drier and there was wet tissue all over the floor. I asked reception if they had detected an odour in the men's toilets and the lady rudely told me she had never used the toilets even though the odour was apparent outside the door. The manager also fobbed me off and said he could not control that on a Saturday the toliets were being used and could not clean up. This was not a case of normal soiling but a build up of bacteria and urea solids, crusts and brown slime. The hotel and the room we stayed in was in various states of disrepair and it appears various health and safety issues. It appeared the trouser press had not been tested as being safe for a number of years and 2 doors that should have been locked were left open with dangerous chemicals that should be looked up under COSHH regulations and wiring not a place you would want to take a child. Although it states hair drier and trouser press both were dirty and I did not want to use them. Furniture with signs of damage and staining, stained and cracked walls in the bedroom and a hole in the landing wall, lifted ceiling tiles. The bath had mildew and so did the shower curtain. We also noticed a cracked tile. We were disgusted by the grime and dead flies we saw on the window sill and the general state of disrepair. The photos of the toilets in the room should say it all we ended up wiping a pubic hair behind the seat off ourselves. Don't bother eating the dried up black pudding served with breakfast either. The location is also in an area of abandoned buildings and as we are professional people we felt very unsafe walking towards the centre. As you can see I took photos of everything. Suitably disgusted!!!
