Excellent weekend
This hotel is welcoming, the staff friendly and helpful and the service especially quick and efficient. The hotel caters for both mountain walkers (in the bar) and those staying on the premises (comfortable lounge and dining room).Bar food is generous and of a high quality and the breakfast, though pricey, so filling that lunch is hardly necessary. Cordon Bleu cookery in the dining room is excellent and our party celebrated a member's 60th birthday in style, his name and bithday wishes printed on the menu - a nice touch.

Rude
Possiblly the most unwelcoming pub I have ever been in. After taking our money for very average food we were told in no uncertain terms to move away from the fire by a very agressive manager. As it's the only pub for miles he knows that he can get away with his bad attitude. The next eve we went to Gosforth where people could not have been friendlier. I visit the lakes several times a year and this is the exception not the rule.
