we have stayed here for many years but last august it had gone down hill to the extent that we did not want to stay but had to. it had gone from a friendly hotel to the worst we have ever been in. the decoration was appaling, the shower leaked, the toilet exploded on our friends covering them with excrement (they left after an argument with the owner about payment having only stayed one night) the fire excape/balcony door would not open without a major fight and then would not close. there was still a childs pen drawning on the wall paper of our room, the same room we had had the year before. the nets from the windows had gone and this meant we had to dress with the curtains closed as our room was overlooked by the next door hotel. if we had a siesta it also meant we had to drawn the curtains.the carpark was full of weeds and an old lotus car which to our knowledge had been there for several years. the carpark only holds about 9 cars but 3 spaces where taken up by the owners, leaving a free for all for the guests. the place had a bad smell about it, musty. our sons room had an obvious leak in the ceiling and the wall was damp and discolored. the side of the hotel had brambles growing up and over the wall making it difficult to walk along to the side entrance from the carpark to the hotel. i could go on forever. we usually had a christmas card but this year we did not recieve one having stayed at the hotel for the last 8 years several times a year we can only surmise that something had gone badly wrong with the owners. they did not contact us this year, so they must know we were not happy. usually we used the bar every night we did not use it after the first night as it was not conducive.
i could co on and on much to say my husband treated me to 3 days in the following october to a lovely hotel in freshwater such was my dissapointment in august. we are going back there this year (freshwater that is) next week. never mind. we did right and complain to everyone we could think of and got nowhere.
