| Excellent Five Day Holiday |
|
The manager and his staff worked hard to make this short holiday worth while with good food and entertainment. The staff were friendly and very helpful with excellent meals at breakfast and dinner times. |

Had a week here with National Holidays, the staff were excellent and the room was spacious clean and well decorated.

| Excellent Staff |
|
During our stay for a week in October 2007 we found a busy hotel being run with enthusiasm and efficiency by a young Manager and his staff. The atmosphere of "nothing being too much trouble" was prevalent and came as a surprise after reading a previous review, written in 2006, before traveling to the hotel. I can only imagine that either the management has changed or that the reviewer expected 5 star facilities in a 2 star establishment. It is not luxurious, but is comfortable, warm and clean. We enjoyed the meals in an efficiently run and busy restaurant. The lift which was criticized in an earlier review was efficient and caused very little waiting. Bathrooms had obviously been refurbished and decorated. Management was extremely polite and dealt with any problems in good spirit. We would happily spend time in this hotel again, given the present conditions. |

| Not that bad! |
|
Reading the other review, this hotel sounds absolutely terrible and it really isn’t that bad! Ok it’s hardly the Ritz, but then again you only get what you pay for! The decor is slightly dated but the rooms are serviced daily and are clean! The staff were all friendly and the food was served quickly and efficiently! Ilfracombe is a quiet place and there isn’t much to do, however I still enjoyed my stay! |

| Terrible hotel |
|
I do a lot of travelling, and I would have to say this is the worst
hotel I have ever had the misfortune to stay in. I almost have too
many complaints to list, but just to pick a few highlights (or should
that be lowlights):
- I was given a single room even after requesting and paying for a
double. Sorting this out took over 45 minutes of arguing with the
reception staff.
- When I finally made it to my double room, the furniture was old and
dilapidated, and the carpet actually had a hole in it which had,
believe it or not, been sellotaped up!
- When I complained about the state of the room, the duty manager was
rude and abrasive.
- To cap everything off, when I came to check out, the lift was out of order.
I can only recomend that you avoid this dump at all costs! |
